She called to me, I'm sure of it. Subliminally. I wasn't looking, but then all of a sudden I was. And there she was.
Earlier this week, I got a sudden urge to look for a road bike to add to my fleet. This, after determining I didn't want another bicycle just a few months ago. I have two bicycles, I'm a minimalist, clearly, I don't need another. Clearly.
And there she was. Staring at me from face6ook marketplace. Her keeper said:
"...been in the closet for the past year, hardly ridden"
Well, she's outta the closet now! Out and proud!🌈
We had our first quality time together this afternoon. She told me her name is Violet.
Violet, during a quiet moment. Pondering metal watermelon slices |
What can I say? I love her already.

suhhhh WHEET! She looks to be a fine ride. And two of anything is never enough! Ride in GLORY! Put a playing card in the spokes and rev her up!
Violet seems like a wonderful addition to your family! I strongly approve of her being added :) Enjoy and be safe!
betty
Linda Sue, yes! And her factory name is actually "Dolce" -Italian for sweet. Suhhhh WHEET!
betty, thanks, no buyer's remorse here!
I must ask a rude question - how many bikes do you have?
Violet is a beauty!
Peggy, *sheepishly* Violet makes for 3 bikes currently. But they're all unique!
Oh she's a beauty! I bet her previous owner is thrilled someone is getting some use out of her. I accidentally gave my bike away to a neighbor. He had spied it in our garage and asked if he could use it to get to work. I only really use it when we go camping so...I guess he could have it? lol Oh well, he definitely gets better use out of it than I did!
No shame in having more than one bike. We have more than one car - I was just curious. Or nosey - either way you wish to look at it Abby!
Wow, super fun. Did you name her?
Any Specialized is a sweet bike! But you're going to have to change the handle bar tape to a color more fitting her name.
I’m so jealous! Grace was a Specialized, and I loved her. Haven’t found a bike I’ve liked as much yet.
I’m sure Violet’s happy to be out of the closet. Good for you to rescue her! Happy riding to you both. :)
Kat, nice accident?! The seller said they're moving and had almost forgot about the bike until they started packing. Whaaaaat??
Madamdreamweaver, she says her name is Violet.
Brian, Yep, strange she doesn't have a strip of violet anywhere!
SR300, alas poor Grace :(
So why Violet? Or am I missing something obvious?
Very nice, I hope you and her will have many fun journeys together.
