May I?

I was perusing my blog archives and came across this pic from two Mays ago.

It's kinda freaky to look at it now.  All those people in one place!  So CLOSE together!  It was Meego's high school graduation.  Find him?

Sheesh, the things we took for granted.  Last week, I was talking with a friend whose son is set to graduate this month from high school.

"I don't know if they're gonna do it with kids all spaced out and parents watch online?  Gonna do a zoom graduation?  We had to buy the cap and gown in the fall.  Whadawe do with it now? Still waiting to hear."

I'm thinking of the kids I tutored over the summer who are now high school seniors.  Who knew this is how their senior year would wind up?  Walking the dogs around the neighborhood, I see a few yard signs, designating homes of kids from "Class of 2020" and feel sad for them even though I don't know them at all.  Maybe they're happy?

So yeah, two years ago I sat in a large crowded arena with a mess of other people inhaling and exhaling together as we watched these kids wrap up their high school lives and ponder, "what's next?"

And as I sat there, I pondered some, "what's next?" for me, too.  Maybe I had some vague ideas, but if anyone would've told me that, in two years, I'd be cheerful from making a quick no-sew facemask from a sock?

Yeah, riiiiiiiight.

Well, slap me and call me "Puma Face".

I feel the same way - I could never ever have guessed life as it is now.

I thought you'd made a face mask out of an old pair of knickers. :D

I reckon I'll never dj again. Clubs and parties with lots of people dancing and singing close together are a thing of the past.

Sandie, it's weird to think how much has changed in just a couple of months.

Joey, y'know, I betcha someone's got a DIY for a no-sew knicker mask!
Never say never, but it'll likely be a while before you're energizing a packed dancefloor again :(

Love your mask!
Like most, I never imagined life would be this way. I don’t like it, I gotta say.
As for your previous post, I’m most certainly an Abby. I see both ways as well, and would rather stay out of it. Glad to hear they don’t argue in front of you... could make for very uncomfortable shifts for ya.

SR300, I saw a short gif on facebook making this mask sock in seconds and had to try it. Darn if it didn't work! Guess I'll make a second one...
Em and Tee keep it professional at work, mainly I think, by avoiding each other. Works for me... and our manager!

I wish I'd seen the no-sew mask before I had to scream at my sewing machine. As for you last post, I'm of the solid opinion that dietitians exist to make other people miserable. But then again, I'd probably go your route of trying to get along with everybody.

Clever idea for a mask.

Linda, to be honest, I think the sock mask is the best fitting and most comfortable one I've worn. Maybe the universe is telling me to "put a sock in it!"
And I recently saw a quote that roughly said, "dieticians care about your health, chefs don't. That's why chef food is so delicious". Yep.

MDW, and it makes good use of those socks whose partners disappear in the laundry!

I just had a facebook memory pop up today for my bachelorette party which was three years ago today. All I could think of was that it was simpler times and that I'm glad I'm not getting married this May.

One year ago, we were in Florida for our Grandson's high school graduation...so very similar to your photo...a packed house!

Our oldest daughter, a Florida high school principal, is dealing with this now; her students will be deprived of all the pomp & circumstance they've well-earned. She's working outside-of-the-box to provide them with support but there is nothing that will make-up for all they'll be missing.

The sock-mask is cute...I would never slap you or call you a name. Improvise...we must!

Ginny, it's weird to think of - going into peak wedding season and no bookings.

Patty, administrators and teachers are really struggling to finish the year on the fly - many with their own young kids at home. I don't envy them!

All of this has been just crazy. My heart goes out to the seniors for sure. They will miss so much due to this early school closure and I just can't imagine how our community is going to bounce back unless a vaccine is created. The sooner the better!
