15 minutes, mostly flat

No, that title is not a description of my sex life... or at least it's not intended to be *ahem*

As mentioned, we've moved.  We're in a smaller house in a smaller town and liking it.  Everything seems so much closer and easier to get to - shopping, dining, entertainment, recreation, etc.  Also, as I'd noted during our previous visits, Fort Collins is super duper bicycle commuter friendly with miles and miles of designated trails, buffered bike paths, and the like.

Looking on google maps for bike routes to various places yields the same result nearly every time:  "15 minutes, mostly flat"

That big snow from Thanksgiving week, however, has thrown a bit of a wrench in the bike commuting.  There are still lots of snow drifts and icy patches about, and my bike hasn't budged since it was unloaded from the moving truck.  I've seen a few die-hards out and about, though.

Most of our stuff is unpacked and arranged, and we feel like mostly civilized people again.  So what's in all the other boxes??

I guess I could open them and find out?  Give me strength, Marie Kondo.

Don't you find unpacking worse than packing? This next move will be my first without professional packers. All our moves have been through our corporate jobs. They pack, they move us and then we had to unpack. Now I will have to do everything and boy after I typed that it sounded very spoiled. :-)

Peggy, so true. Our last move was a corporate move, and the movers gave us an itemized list of what was in each nicely labeled box. Now, we've got these boxes that either don't say anything, or say something like "shelves and stuff". Not helpful.

Don't bother unpacking at all! You're going to move again after you get the old house sold and a new one bought anyway, right? I'm happy you're happy with the new location :)

Maybe when you do unpack you will find out some things you don't need!

The truck unloaded your stuff yesterday and you're already unpacked? Admirable on SO many levels!
Fort Collins sounds like a great move; too much hustle-bustle bullSt in COS...

Good luck with selling your old house and have fun house hunting. I agree with Linda's comment above. Don't unpack everything if you'll be moving again soon. Our house in PA sold in one day and we were totally unprepared for that.

Linda, makes good sense! I'm going through boxes and consolidating, a.k.a "why did we move this??"

Chatty, that's what I'm doing, don't want to move it twice if we didn't even need it once!

Anonymous, the truck actually unloaded on Thursday afternoon. We didn't feel like civilized people until sometime Saturday. I'm not missing the hustle-bustle bullSt at all!

Clamco, one day, wow!

I'm sure Marie is channeling you and feeling very proud of her lessons.

Anita, Marie's been a good teacher, but I can do better!
And yes, four of us five now live in the same city. Chaco lives about an hour's drive away. All the kids have their own lives, but I'm not complaining about the proximity :)

I saw a little bit of Fort Collins when we visited my husband's brother, who lives in Loveland. It's a lovely little town. Glad you like it there! I guess I'm weird, but unpacking and finding new spaces for things is kind of fun to me. It's like a new beginning.
