This week's prompt at Illustration Friday is "whisper". Hmmm... how to illustrate a whisper?
The word conjures images of mouth-to-ear action. In fact, when I went to see what the prompt was, there were already many mouth-to-ear submissions. All nicely done, of course, but I'm too much of a non-conformist to jump on that wagon.
The word also suggests images of intimacy. Hmmm... this is a pretty PG-13 blog, so nope.
I decided to to the mouth-to-ear whisper after all, just from the opposite end of things. Non-conformity lives.

Ya know. I tend to always say the same thing about your pics, and I'm running out of ways to say "I love this!" But I must tell you, when I saw this drawing, my first reaction was that this was your best yet. Not just because you did a fantastic job of drawing it, but because the feelings it conjures up went straight to my heart. So sweet! I love the view point. I love that you can tell what they're doing without actually seeing it. I love it.
Long live non-conformity! :)
Ditto what shadowrun said. I have really loved your sketches and haven't seen a bad one yet. I may be slightly biased but I think you captured the intent of the prompt without relying upon the standard mouth-to-ear shot. Great way to fight da man and rail against conformity.
Like! It still relays a sense of intimacy, just like the whisper itself.
Fantastic drawing!! And seriously, us non-conformists invented the phrase "thinking out of the box". I immediately knew that at the top of the drawing was a little boy, his hands placed on either side of his mouth, while he whispered to the taller person.
And I'm running out of ways to say, "Aw, thanks!"
Thanks! Be as biased as you like, I can take it.
Good :) that's what I was shootin' for.
You know it Ljoy, keep fighting the good fight.
You drew that? Wow. You have some REAL talent!
You have SUCH creativity in you! I love this. You've drawn just a small piece of a bigger picture that I can clearly see in my mind.
lovely! and a phantastic idea!
Very interesting take on this, and wonderful wonderful drawing. It leaves a lot to the imagination, while being solidly THERE. Nice!
What a terrific, original perspective on the topic, "whisper". Your image conveys more than most while never revealing the actually focus of the exchange...super!
