swept

Greetings on this fine Illustration Friday on Saturday. This week's prompt is "swept" and I decided to give a shout out to the bikers out there.

In my time spent being a school crossing guard, I tabulated some unofficial statistics and the results are:

Worst drivers in a school zone - women in minivans.
Best drivers in a school zone - men on motorcycles.

Sorry to the mini van driving moms, I just call 'em as I see 'em.

I'm not really a "choppa" kinda girl, but I thought this one was pretty - with the swept handlebars and all...

I can almost feel the bugs in my teeth :) Your last post cracked me up. You should send your parents an Arizona post card.

I can appreciate a cool looking bike! That's a good one!

And the moms in minivans? Somehow doesn't surprise me that they are the least attentive drivers.

It's beautiful!

And when I think about it, it doesn't surprise me about the women driving minivans and the men riding motorcycles--although I suspect it has more to do with the vehicles than the sex of the drivers. Minivans are harder to see out of, drivers of minivans tend to be less cautious because their vehicles are so big and powerful, and drivers of minivans are also likely distracted by their children. Motorcycles, on the other hand are much smaller and more fragile on the roads, bikers can see all around them, and of course they don't have kids on their bikes. Also, how often does one see a biker on a damned cellphone (I consider the cellphone to be one of the most dangerous and socially-destructive inventions of all time, and feel that cellphone usage should be completely banned)!

But there is one other factor--men (in minivans and on motorcycles) always slow down to look at a good-looking lady like you!

As a daily motorcycle commuter, I pass a particular school crossing every morning. I'd post a pic, but a biker-trash taking photos in a school zone might raise (prejudging) eyebrows. Too risky!

The bike is pretty. You should have drawn yourself thrown across it, in your sexiest attire, to give to your husband or to admire it yourself. :)

Nice bike. Love the lines.

I agree with your observations. The baddest bikers can be way better than cell phone talking, minivan drivers with a horde of kids in tow.
