on the couch

A Charlie Brown Valentine show was on last night. Meego had it on. I used to like these Charlie Brown shows when I was a kid, and as I sat there with Meego, I couldn't for the life of me remember WHY!

I'm sorry, it may sound unAmerican, but I just found EVERY character terribly annoying. They all had such issues. Charlie Brown was daydreaming of "The Little Red Haired Girl" to the point of obsession. Peppermint Patty was engaging in stalking behavior. PigPen - HellOH!! Linus needed to lose that blanket years ago. And Lucy is just a total BI-OTCH.

I had my sketchbook and just began scribbling. A couple of Meego's Lego toys were hanging around, and I was thankful for that. I found comfort in their weaponry.

I used to get so MAD watching "It's the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown." How could all those adults be so cruel as to give Charlie Brown a rock instead of candy, just because he didn't have any help from his parents in the proper placement of the eye-holes of his ghost costume? So sad. So very sad. Almost makes me want to find comfort in some weaponry as well.

You gotta do what you gotta do to have that quality time with the kids.
Multi-tasking is wonderful. :)

I used watch all of the Charlie Brown specials back before there was VCRs and HBO. I had always found them funny in a "poor kid cannot buy a break" sort of way. I guess Charles Shultz was trying to convey a message, but I just never got it. All the characters that need physcological help. A dog that imagines he's a WWI flying ace? A very intelligent kid with a blanket fixation who believes in the Great Pumpkin? The mysterious "Little Red Haired Girl" as the object of Charlie Brown's obsession (that we never see)? An the total lack of any adults in the entire series except for when they talk off camera (maw ma wa ma wa ma). I just kept waiting for Charlie Brown to go postal one day...

I like the sketches. Nice detail.
