I had always found them funny in a "poor kid cannot buy a break" sort of way. I guess Charles Shultz was trying to convey a message, but I just never got it. All the characters that need physcological help. A dog that imagines he's a WWI flying ace? A very intelligent kid with a blanket fixation who believes in the Great Pumpkin? The mysterious "Little Red Haired Girl" as the object of Charlie Brown's obsession (that we never see)? An the total lack of any adults in the entire series except for when they talk off camera (maw ma wa ma wa ma). I just kept waiting for Charlie Brown to go postal one day...

I like the sketches. How could all those adults be so cruel as to give Charlie Brown a rock instead of candy, just because he didn't have any help from his parents in the proper placement of the eye-holes of his ghost costume? So sad. So very sad. Almost makes me want to find comfort in some weaponry as well.terrihttp://territerri.wordpress.com/noreply@blogger.com
