going both ways

And so it begins.

I figured, with all the snow closures and such, I'd probably have a pretty good chance of getting in at the eye doctor's.  I figured right.  I got an appointment for this afternoon, and the dr. was actually kind of scrambling around because he was short handed.

But we got it done.  Last time, he tried to talk me into trying out some bifocals.  What?  Bifocals?!  Me??  Deny, deny deny!

This time?  Yeah, okay.  Fine.  I'm tired of flipping up my glasses to read what's in my hand.

He starts going into "... the lens becomes less flexible..."  Blah, Blah, whatever.  Do we hafta talk about it?!  Let's just order the old lady glasses and move on!

So that's done.  They're in the works anyway.  Then I'll see about getting used to this bifocal business.

Funny how this stuff just creeps up.  I can vaguely remember the days when I didn't need ANY glasses.  I was in college when I realized I was having trouble seeing the board.  With that, I ended up with my first pair of glasses.  I did the contact lenses for a while, but eventually got tired of all that cleaning and whatnot.  So high maintenance.  I've been bespectacled ever since.  The prescription getting a little stronger with each visit to the eye doctor.

Anyway, as I was sitting in the exam room waiting for the doctor to take care of some administrative stuff because the administrative person didn't come to work today, I noticed there was a poster on the wall featuring some ghastly eye conditions.

There are some gross things to be had by our eyes and the tissues around our eyes.

I'm glad there are eye doctors. I'm glad there are corrective lenses.  I'm glad I'm just getting bifocals.

Ooh, I know the feeling. I have to get my eyes checked 2x/yr and EACH TIME seems like it's gonna be THE ONE where I have to get "corrected". Yet somehow, I manage to skate by....but one of these days, Alice....

It's been about 4 years since my last eye doctor's visit. I'm sure glasses are in my future. My mother was the same way about bifocals but now she's really glad she got them. Thank you Ben Franklin for inventing the bifocal

One of these days!
I was thinking maybe the printing on labels has just gotten smaller over the years. It's not that?

I think I'll like them once I get used to them. First, I have to get used to the idea!

Yes, there is a lot worse that needing bifocals!

Mrs RC has them. She is not sure she likes them that much...

I've been saying for months (or maybe a couple of years) that I need to get my eyes checked. I'm getting by with readers for now, but I get tired of the putting them on and taking them off all day long. I might be too lazy for contacts and suspect I'll become officially bespectacled in the near future.

I visited the eye doc last week, and he told me the next time I see him, I'll likely need bifocals. I told him I wouldn't be back for a while....
But you are totally right in saying there are SO many bad things that can happen with eyes. Link can attest to that. So I am happy to only need contacts and bifocals. We shouldn't complain!

The eye doctor told me that about a fourth of the people who get them never end up liking them.

My problem now is, I have to take my glasses off to read. Always something! Come on over and join the club!

It's been a few years since the "b" word entered the eye exam. I finally went back... But yeah, pretty trivial all things considered!

I'm in denial about my eyesight. Well most things actually. :D

Denial is not just a river in Egypt. Welcome to the world of old lady glasses. I made the jump to BFs a few years ago. Well, not really a jump, more like being dragged kicking and screaming. I actually had them for a year but refused to wear them cause they gave me a headache. I never really got used to the different focus depending upon if you are looking up or down. I kept wearing my old glasses that were getting a bit funky. I finally relented and went full time in them and eventually got used to them. I still would prefer single vision but I guess that ship has sailed. I used to wear contacts but after I scratched my cornea once or twice, I gave up on them.

Well, Mr. RK is currently heading home with a motorcycle - enter mid-life crisis. He says he's not middle-aged. He's 44. Denial?
