To be honest, I didn't even watch the SuperBowl. I was interested in the outcome because of where I live, but I can't remember the last time I watched an entire football game, start to finish. Magnum, however had no intention of not watching, while I was thinking what a good time it would be to go hit the grocery store.
Dutiful wife that I am, I joined him on the futon to be a calming presence, then commenced to putting in my earbuds and streaming a chick flick on my tablet. I think I enjoyed myself more than Magnum enjoyed his.
I would pause my movie and check in with him every now and then, and the answer was always the same. "Bad to worse". I also have a fair number of friends who are diehard Broncos fans, and I would occasionally check in at facebook
This "status update", which popped in shortly after the start of the second half, is pretty representative of my newsfeed in general:
Then, of course, there's today. Most of my classmates and instructors at school had to get in a few comments. It was like some tribal ritual that had to take place before we could just move on. I'm sure similar things were going on at offices and other places of business.
And also on campus was, alas, Clyde: The Sequel:
Now who needs a hug? .

We had every intention of watching the whole game, but, well, it wasn't very fun to watch. I did win 3 bucks in the family pool though!
Hopefully you all will recover soon. I can't bear to see that poor mascot be so sad.
:(
Poor Clyde. That's one sad mountain lion in need of a hug (or a drink). I don't blame him for being down. That was one ugly game.
I really didn't have a dog in this hunt, but I was rooting for the Broncos. But after that first play, I knew it was going to be ugly. I did watch most of the game, just to see if Payton could pull a rabbit out but, alas, it was not to be. Take heart that at least you guys made it to the big game.
Hey, 3 bucks is 3 bucks! Getting some blowpops?
Clyde is so pathetic. I feel worse for him than for Peyton.
Yeah, I had relatively little interest, but I still hoped they would at least make a game of it. Poor Clyde is really hanging his head. And that's a big head!
Clyde. Go give that mou'ain lion a good ol' cop-a-feel cougar hug. That'll cheer him up.
rawr
"Cougar" hug be right!
Yeah - I never watch anything sports either. But I did watch the Super Bowl this year, and quite frankly, it was terrible! I was thrilled when it ended!
Ugh, of all the sports things to watch! I think many were thrilled when it ended.
Football was part of my life before kids, but now I have to spend my time wisely. Maybe I'll get back to it when I become an Empty Nester.
However, because Russell Wilson lived in Richmond, VA many years and because my husband knew his father very well (and Russell, too), my husband has a mild obsession with Russell that spilled over to the rest of the family on SB night - we had fun... sliders and all.
Btw, Russell is Seattle's QB... just in case you didn't look up from your movie.
Did you at least see the Star Spangles banner sung by the opera singer, Renee ? and Bruno liven up the half time?
I actually DID do my grocery shopping during the game. (No one was home to guilt me into sticking around to watch.) I only regretted not watching because I knew the next day would bring about a lot of discussion of commercials and plays which I knew nothing about.
What a cool connection! Russell showed lots of poise, glad YOU guys enjoyed the game! (Yes, I knew who he is :)).
And yup, I watched Renee and Bruno. Great job both. Could've done without Red Hot Chilie Peppers.
I grocery shopped one year during the Superbowl. There were a few other women with little kids there, that was IT!
