Silver Liningness Sunday

Another lovely week down.  It's a wonderfully warm morning outside.  I'm actually looking forward to going out there and cleaning China's bathroom in a little while.

Chaco  dropped in for a visit this weekend, so it's nice to get caught up with him.  He's got a new roommate after one of the guys in their four-bedroom dorm dropped out last semester.

New guy is a criminal justice major - gonna be a cop.  Chaco says "he's shorter than me, but huge" because he works out a LOT.  And apparently he's very tidy. Let's see...
He gets up early to work out, makes huge breakfasts and cleans everything up spick and span, and he fights crime.

What more could a mom ask for?

In entertainment news, Magnum and I watched  Dredd.  I surprised myself by liking it!  It's definitely not for everyone, and not my typical fare.  It's violent and dark with not a whole lot of character development.  It's a comic book movie, after all, and it has grit and edginess to it that was well done from an artsy standpoint.

Two severed thumbs up for Dredd.

Yeah, we watched it on Valentine's Day.

In other violent news, Napolion has been venturing outside more lately.  He's proving himself to be quite the mighty hunter.  Yesterday, he brought down a prize gopher.  It must have taken extreme skill and patience to bag that one, as the gophers tend to stay underground most of the time.

Like any proud hunter, he brought his gutted trophy right to the back door for all to see.  Thing was HUGE!  Magnum suggested a photo for the blog.  Be glad that I refused.

The gopher couldn't be any scarier than the bruised chest and scarred face of the Dredd woman.

Chaco is getting quite the exposure at college. The new roommate should provide interesting stories.

"MaMa" from Dredd is a bit of a monster, but that gopher is more likely to give me nightmares!

Ugh, thank you for not posting that.

My cats are indoor kitties. Our late, beloved cat Lucky surprised us one night by making all kinds of funny noises. We were reading, got up, and found two of his mouse toys in our doorway as an offering!

I, for one, would like to thank you for not posting a photo of the gopher. I'm sure Napolion was quite proud, but I'm happy not to see the fruits of his labor.

Nice that Chaco got a such an impressive new roommate. It must be nice to know he's well protected while he's out on his own.

I'll take your word for it on the movie. Doesn't sound like my kind of movie. I'm kind of a chick-flick kinda girl.

To confess, I didn't really look that closely at the prize gopher. It was more of a "Ack, that's big and disgusting" while looking at the sky. You have indoor kitties and, apparently, indoor mice as well!

Exactly, let Napolion get his own blog to post his prizes.

Dredd is many things, but chick-flick isn't one of them.

Love your Valentine's day choice for movie. Nothing says I love you like lots of carnage and destruction.

I hope that Chaco toes the line with his new roommate. Maybe some of those traites will rub off on him. And would love to see Napolion's trophy. Isn't that what cat are supposed to do? I definitely wouldn't expect China to drag something like that back home.

The Dredd movie sounds like a good one - I will look out for it! I like the Judge Dredd setting, it should be grim and nasty. The Stalone one was very disappointing for me...

We only pay China to bark and dig.

I never saw the Stallone version. And this Dredd was not something I chose, but rather one I agreed to watch. I'm betting you will like it! Find it, maybe save it for the next romantic evening with Mrs. RC :)

Shoot, I wanted to see the gopher. Was Napoleon rewarded?

I guess I am curious to see the gopher picture too, but if you had posted, I probably wouldn't have wanted to see it. Weird that way, I guess.

Abby said...

The answer to that is no.... right?

It was actually pretty impressive, the way he had it all surgically laid out, neatly slashed open. Disgustingly horribly impressive.

Wait, is it Valentine's Day or Halloween? Not that we did anything romantic, but blood and gore and dead gophers had no part in our weekend. I had a feeling RC would like your movie choice though.
And there are really boys out there that clean up after themselves? I'd have felt better thinking all boys were slobs.
Hope you enjoyed cleaning China's bathroom. Your weather will arrive on our doorstep tomorrow! Can't wait!

I'm still wondering if the new roomie is just some sort of fiction Chaco made up to see if I'll believe him.

Seconding (seventhing?) the "thanks for no gopher picture" sentiment!

Chaco's new roommate sounds like a dream come true. For your son. As a roommate. This is coming out all wrong. Gah. I am out of practice!

I am glad you refused the photo of the dead gopher, but well done cat! I think.
My university son is home for reading break. It's so good to see him and to be close enough that he can come home fairly often. Sounds like your Chaco has quite the awesome room mate!
