Silver Liningness Sunday

For starters, yesterday was Wolfgang's 18th birthday.  He can go buy scratch tickets now.

We celebrated the occasion with a day in the big city (Denver), just shopping, eating...

We got him a (p)ukulele and some cash.  It sounds very Hawaiian around here, but I still don't like pineapple on my pizza.

Several years ago, I became a member of a women's education organization - PEO.  I was very active in the sisterhood while we lived in New York.  Then we moved, Chaco and Wolfgang started school and rec sports, Meego came along.  I got busy with school and sport league volunteering, etc, and pretty much dropped off the PEO radar while remaining a non-resident member of my NY chapter.

Nice thing is, it never goes away, and there are chapters all over the country.  I finally got around to finding some other chapters where we live now and received several invitations to visit.  I visited one chapter this week and had a good time and met some nice sisters.  Like riding a bike.

I plan to eventually transfer to one of the local groups.  I'll visit a few others, and then let them all fight over me.

In movie news, Magnum and I watched Silver Linings Playbook (how appropriate).  We both liked this well-known movie.  Really good performances all around.  Jennifer Lawrence got the Oscar, but Robert De Niro's still got it going on, no?

Meego got some new glasses to never wear, just like his old pair.

A pregnant lady did it HERE

Chaco has agreed to drag me up The Incline this coming week.

I think it'll be fun.  I think.

Happy Birthday Wolfgang. Don't blow all your income on those quick picks. I'm sure you are enjoying the ukulele I have never heard of PEO but it sounds like a great organization. I'm sure they will be fighting over you to join the local chapter.

The incline looks even more impressive from that angle. Is there an escalator version?

I'm impressed you're still willing to do the Incline after seeing the pregnant lady's pics. Just don't look down, ok? :) The views look incredible though. I'm so jealous.
Anyway, please wish Wolfgang a happy birthday from the ShadowRuns. He wanted a ukele?? I guess I can't really judge. Amp was given an Ocarina one year after begging for it for some time. I find it fun having kids who have interests different from the norm.
I have yet to see Silver Linings Playbook, but it sounds like a great movie. I'm anxious to see Heat at some point too. Someday I'm just gonna have to take Netflix up on their free trial period.
Oh... and the PEO group. How cool is that? I've never heard of it before. Wonder if they have a chapter in these here parts?

If he has bought any lottery tickets, they're not winners. Either that or he's keeping it all for himself.

Wolfgang's had an acoustic guitar for a while and sounds pretty good. A friend of his got a ukulele to play around on, and he mentioned thinking about getting one too. I'll give him your birthday wishes!
I've heard "Heat" is good. And I'm sure there are PEO chapters in those there parts. My little podunk hometown has TWO!
I think The Incline will be good for my acrophobia in a freak out kind of way. Anything for the blog...

A ukulele! Mr. RK would be jealous. I am wondering if you bought yourself some earplugs.

Happy birthday to Wolfgang! Love your robot. Looks like we were in sync this week thinking about past coworkers. I think I would've rather worked with your's though :)

The Incline looks very 'incline-y'. Let us know how it goes! I shocked myself earlier this summer by making it up, jogging, to the water towers. Woohoo! Happy birthday to your Wolfgang, and good luck with those scratch tickets. I still have to see Silver Lining's Playbook.

Happy Birthday, Wolfgang! A ukelele? Is this a new trend?

Where'd my comment from a few days ago go! Anyway, I think I was going on and on about the PEO and how it could be something I'd be interested in, which is unusual because I'm not big with memberships.

And I mentioned Mt. Trashmore in Virginia Beach which has stairs going up a heap of former trash; albeit NO where near the height of your incline. But they've made a fun park out of it.

Oh, Happy Belated Birthday, Wolfgang!

How does it feel to be the mother of two "adults?" :)
