up, up, and away

I just finished clicking through thirty slow-loading pages of  *sigh*  red carpet photos from the Oscars.  I say I don't care who/what they were wearing, but there it is, I confess.  Maybe I do care, a little.  No, I'd say I have a passing interest.  Thirty slow-loading pages later, it's done.

In other news, the pictures from the balloon launch are up since the teachers made it back to civilization where we have things like internet.  Really, if you've not experienced eastern Colorado, it's kind of like outer Mongolia out there.

Here's a pic taken shortly after liftoff.  Look, my house!

This one got a good shot of the burn scar from last summer's fire.

This one's a pretty cool shot with the moon.

And here's one from the descent into outer Mongolia eastern Colorado.

There were over 700 photos.  The balloon was in the air for about 2 hours total and reached an altitude of about 100,000 ft. before bursting.

I was trying to think of any similar projects from when I was in high school and could think of nothing.  In college, my group did a senior project testing beer can strength by blowing a bunch up.  Good times.

But rather cheesy in comparison.

The balloon launch was a pretty impressive project. If any of my kids have done something so impressive in college, I've yet to hear about it.

You're pretty brave putting a picture of your house on the internet like that! :-)

Yes, please pardon the mess :\

Don't feel bad about flipping through the red carpet pictures. I actually watched Fashion Police the next day, just to hear the talk. I'd like to think I'm not interested in that stuff, but I guess I am.
Awesome photos from the balloon launch. And I ALMOST recognized your house.

This is a great project - not many people can show photos that they took from 100,000 feet!

Your house is lovely and the lawn is so well manicured. LOVE the plant on your porch!

And, by the way, whenever I load THE WALKING DEAD game, or go to one of my gaming sites, the banner says "welcome abbynormal". huh? WEIRD!

It's funny, the Oscar pictures I perused were rated "best" and "worst" and they all kinda looked the same to me.

I was a bit leary about sending that camera stuff up in a box tied and duct taped to a weather balloon. All for science!

What?!? Am I hacking you or are you hacking me??

Fascinating!

I just watched the videos from your previous post. Totally not-boring project. By the way, where did you mention the birds flying over in your video? Maybe on the other post. You get points for that.

Count me in on getting sucked into flipping through the Oscar attire pics. :)

Awesome! Great pictures. Especially love the one of your house and yard but don't you need to wash Ellie May? Way better than any of my high school projects. although, blowing up beer cans might have been an interesting experiment. Still, great project. I am still amazed you got the camera/pictures from sending it that high.

Yeah, those geese just showed up suddenly, like they wanted to come check out the "big egg".

I'm thinking that capsule must have landed pretty hard. Says something for duct tape and Red Bull cans. And yeah, if I'd have known that camera was going to snap the house like that, I'd have given Ellie Mae a good scrub.

This project is TOTALLY amazing to me! Also, I missed the red carpet who wore it best segment.
