one last kiss

While the winter break seemed plenty long enough, at the same time the last few days of it seemed to fly by. Yesterday, we found ourselves in the final hours before everything turned back into pumpkins.

We were pondering an outing, either bowling or indoor rock climbing, when Wolfgang noted how nice it was outside for January.  We should take advantage.  Bike ride!

Ellie Mae was more than willing.  Check out her fine behind!

5 bikes to 1 vehicle = happy ratio!

I mentioned that we bought The Element mainly because of her toy hauling capacity.  Some asked about where everyone sits when she's loaded up with bicycles.  In that case, there's room for only two people, but we do have 4 drivers in the fam.

We rendezvous at the starting point of our bike rides, of which we have several choices for just around town.    If we want to go biking at some distance where it's impractical to drive two cars, we would just rent bicycles.

And it really was a lovely day for it.  Most of the recent snow and ice has melted, the sun was warm and inviting.  We did about a 12-mile ride as the sun approached the mountains.  Nice way to end the break before facing reality again.

And I did practice some camera and video editing skillz, which hopefully are improving.  [CLICK HERE] to join Bella, me, and the rest of the gang in our Colorado tourism plug!  There's more to do here than ski and snowboard in the winter...

Fun ride! Took our biker offspring deep into the city to try bike polo yesterday ("newbie day") -- he's stoked, so I'm bracing for his Next Big Thing. One of the other players mentioned bike polo made her a better commuter, better skillz & all. Turns out a lot of them move here just for the bike polo scene -- who knew?!

Meanwhile I stayed warm with a decaf Americano at a gritty coffee shop.

Nice fit for the bikes. I have a 4 door Jeep Wrangler and can't fit 2 bikes that perfectly!

What a great way to end the break! I was just telling hubby today that the people in Colorado bike during the winter.... hint. hint.
(He wasn't taking the bait.)
Your camera work was pretty awesome this time around - although I was pretty nervous you were gonna take out the little kid in the beginning.
Hope you enjoy getting back to the grind this week!

I was wondering how everyone fit in Ellie Mae after she was loaded up. VERY nice video ride along. Love how you captured a lot of the trail. Your camera work is definitely top notch! But I have to ask, did I spy a dinosaur in the first park you passed on your ride?

Bike polo?? I never knew!

It'd been really cold up until yesterday - like it got nice just for our last break day.

These Honda Elements are the bomb!

I know, right? You see that kid?? Give them some 12-inch wheels and they wanna play chicken!

Well, aren't YOU the observant one! That most certainly is a dinosaur. Don't you have dinosaurs where you live?

Hey, chalk it up to excellent camerawork. I'm normally not that observant, but there are some shapes/silhouettes that just jump out at you and that was one.

I am jealous of your cycle paths! The few we have are covered with loose grit which sprays everywhere and jams in the chain...

That's a sad story RC.

It's a mini-putt golf course. I think the dinosaur hangs out there to grab random bicyclers.

I think it's great that your boys are all still willing to participate in family events! And clearly, the Normals weren't the only ones who thought it was a great day for a bike ride. There were a lot of people on that path!

Yes! They must have all known we were coming :)
