One thing I want to do more of, now that I have the time and fun money, is to enter more organized races. I've only done a handful since I graduated high school. In fact, I bet I can count them all... let's see.... seven. Yep, it's seven organized races I've done in 30 years.
I signed up for the Rescue Run 10K to set the stage for that "resolution". Much fun was had.
See anyone you know? Purple hat & shades, middle of photo? Not at all prominently featured? |
I already blogged about how I won free groceries, but I've never won free groceries, so I must mention THAT again!
In movie news, Magnum and I watched The Double Hour this week. It's in Italian, and it twists and turns all over until the end. Hard to not keep watching once you start!
And yes, I changed the blog look a little. I, for one, like change every now and then. And as mentioned, I've lowered the spam shields and got rid of the word verification puzzles. We'll see if the riff raff starts coming around. As far as providing a fun challenge to those who miss the word verification, maybe a question of the day? Of course, that won't keep the spammers out...
So I've enjoyed these two weeks of end-of-year/start-of-year rest, but I'm ready to get back to it. In fact, I'm starting to go a bit stir crazy. I took a short sample SAT this morning just to make sure my brain hasn't turn to mush.
(it hasn't - not too much).

Nice! I'm thinking about signing up for a trail run in a couple weeks.
I used to do a lot of 5/10ks but got out of the habit when I got busy with scouts/school/work. I am considering starting up again, but momma tells me I'd have to get rid of a lot of my shirts to make room for new ones. I've also done a couple of resolution runs as well - fun/healthy way to ring in the New Year.
Love the new blog look (out with the old, in with the new)! I hope the spammers leave you alone. I'm like a few others - that word verification think was driving me nuts at times (or could be my poor spelling).
Fun! A trail run should have less of an ice factor.
There are some races that let participants opt out of the shirt for smaller fees, but it's kind of hard to pass on the goodies.
I'm surprised that you haven't done more races, considering how much you run. I guess I just assumed you were doing them!
I think you've got some serious cabin fever if you did a sample SAT just for kicks!
Nope, I've just been mostly a lurker runner. And yes, the cabin fever has reached a peak!
I have tried so many times to change the look of my blog, I work for hours and end up right back where I started Ha Ha, I may have to try again and see if it sticks.
I like the change you made it looks great.
I have a feeling that your brain has remained as sharp as ever, SAT or not :)
I like the idea of taking sample standardized tests. Perhaps I should do that. I often worry that since I'm not using my degree, my brain will atrophy.
Never has it crossed my mind to take an SAT for kicks. In fact, I'm quite scared to. Best to remain naive and believe I'm as sharp as I ever was. ha.
You've had such a great week! I'm so happy for you, albeit a little jealous.
Save room for another dirty run! Hopefully there'll be another in the works!
I'm definitely stir-crazy but feeling vey lazy too. The kids go back to school tomorrow so I'm hoping that will force me back into action.
I like the look of your blog. I change my background a lot but keep some aspects the same.
Whenever people mention cabin fever I think about the TV series Northern Exposure. My wife loved it - in fact we got our younger daughter's name from there!
Thanks for dropping the word puzzle - it was a major issue with my phone!
Thanks, I just get tired of the same old thing after a while. Variety - spice o' life.
I think there really is a use-it-or-lose-it in effect. They're free to take with no pressure. Or for some real fun, register for the real thing and take it with the squirming teenagers!
I've got some hot pink shoes ready for the next muddy shoe table!
Yes, I blame part of my laziness of the last couple of weeks on having the kids home. Everybody back to the grind today!
And I always enjoy your "useless fact of the day" at your place :)
Oh, I kind of remember that show! Only saw a couple of episodes, but I remember the Inuit woman - secretary? Loved her hangover remedies.
I love the new blog look. And I am very happy to hear the New Year is starting off so well for you, already. That's great! And good luck with any and all upcoming races!!
Ooohh.. I remember those. As I recall you were trying to "dirty them up." I suppose a mud run would do the trick.
