Thanksgiving

Yesterday, I came upon this on the fridge "to do" whiteboard:

I guess Chaco felt he needed to put it up there in case I forgot or something. (Note: I added the hatchet as it was missing and I felt that step was important).

Of course, it's not about the turkey, not really. It bothers me when people refer to Thanksgiving as "turkey day". I just want to grab them by the lapels and shout, "It's not about the turkey, you ingrate!", but I don't.

Either way, I am thankful for the turkey who gave its life and is now roasting away in the oven.

But I am most sincerely grateful for friends I've met through this blog. Really, just know that I would gladly take a bullet for any one of you.... but maybe not in the head, but in like an arm or leg or something.

Love the sense of humor your family shares! :-)

I am honored that you would take a bullet for me... even if it were just in the arm or leg or something.

Not sure I can make the same promise. Bullets are known to be painful! I'd experience some pain for you though... like... I'd get a flu shot for you! :-)

Hope the turkey turned out tasty and hatchet-free!

I see another budding artist in the works. I hope the turkey lived up to its expectations. You are correct - Thanksgiving is about giving thanks, regardless if there is a turkey or not.

I'd take a shot (of Tequilla) for the rest of you.

Ahhhh...I feel the love. :)

Here's to bloggy friends! (insert your favorite toasting beverage here)

Good fridge pic. I might steal the idea for next year. It should be a real hit with my "sometimes" vegetarian daughter. It might turn her into a complete vegetarian.

I've been enjoying your blog for a while now, Abby, but this particular post really stood out for me. I don't know why. Well, it was probably the addition of the hatchet. Funny and clever.

HAHAHAHA, awesome. For what it's worth, I've been as-good-as vegetarian for over 15 years and I love Chaco's picture!
