just sayin'

What's in your closet?

Me, I've got root beer - a sign of spring.

Run With Lumber is next week, so I've also got a bunch of cups and spoons in the car. It's supposed to be about going out and being active while supporting the school, but I must face the fact that many of those kids are in it for the root beer floats and participation prizes. Whatever works.

In other news, I'm curious about something. Say you find out about a part-time job opening somewhere, so you go ahead and apply. Then say that the hiring person, with whom you have worked before, contacts you and says stuff like, "that's fantastic!" and then commences to ask you if you would also be willing to take another part-time opening at the same place in combination with the other.

And then say you hedge a little then agree to consider it. And say you consider it and ask a few questions of this hiring person who all the while is urging you and flattering you to do it. And say you finally decide that you'd be willing to take both part-time jobs if offered and let the hiring person know this. And then say you don't hear anything more after that. For like a week and a half. No job offer, no "sorry we changed our mind", etc.

What say you?
.

I say that's just weird. Really weird. Maybe there was an accident (that's my response to any situation when I don't hear from someone).

As for the root beer - I was saluting you until I realized it was Run With Lumber Root Beer and not your personal stash. I love me some root beer. LOVE ME SOME ROOT BEER!

I say a quick polite email/call is in order. That's what I say.

..Hey so and so, I haven't heard anything from you about blah blah blah and was wondering where we stand on this thing. Thanks! Talk to you soon.

Seriously. That would make me a little miffed.

I say you have the right to ask questions. The lack of response is completely unprofessional.

I'd be in it for a rootbeer float too. LOL

As to the job give them a call. I always try not to burn any bridges. In the current job climate they may think they just take their time. Plus you never know if the hiring person is an airhead or something and believed she actually phoned and thought you were blowing her off.

Being a former A&W employee, I am going to say that there is only one kind of root beer that should be in a "root beer float"...don't tempt the root beer gods...those floats, if improperly assembled CAN explode...really.

I had that kind of happen to me before. I drove to Pennsylvania for an interview, and I thought it went really well. Then the editor called me up a few days later saying she forgot she was supposed to hire from within the company. Thanks for wasting my life, lady.

Sorry it happened to you.
