fragmentary recall

This was a shortened weekend for me as I worked yesterday - Saturday rotation time again. Another seemingly productive week down. Let's bullet.

  • I finished a novel this week - The Silent Patient. When I went to add it to my Goodreads, I strangeley saw that I'd already read it? Really? Apparently, in 2019. Well, it wasn't memorable the first go. And it even has a twisty, big reveal ending. Oh well, 4 stars.

  • Speaking of memory, we watched Total Recall - the 2012 version with Colin Farrell.

It was pretty much what I expected. A lot of shoot-em-up, running around, heavy CGI, etc. But I won't say no to 2012 Colin Farrell.

  • Speaking of pastimes, it occurred to me, out of the blue this week, that I would probably enjoy bird watching. That made me feel old, where did that come from?
*I know bird watching isn't just for old people, it just made me feel old to suddenly find it appealing*

  • Speaking of hobbies, our tutor bosses at work asked each of us math tutors to put together a "tutor bio". It should be 100 - 150 words and include our educational background, which campuses we support, etc.

I typed one up, and the word count was 50. *SIGH*. I mean, I said all the things. What more is there? They encouraged us to add "fun facts" about ourselves. Ugh.

The only maybe fun fact, if you would call it that, is that I've been a regular blogger for over 20 years, but I don't tell real life people about that.

I'm not saying anything about bird watching either.

  1. A 2012 Colin Farrell I wouldn't Pass on either. *Winks*

    1. I think he's gotten "funner" as he's gotten older, but 2012 CF was a keeper too :)

  2. 150 words? Why? short and to the point is better. "I like maths" would od, that is all that is required. If you like crazy super hero fluff, The Boys on amazon prime is , bloody well curious...bloody being the operative!

    1. I think we might've started an episode of The Boys - sounds familiar. I do recall plenty of blood! But we ditched prime a while ago...

  3. I haven't seen that movie though I do like the idea of bird watching. I'm a macro photographer though so things I'm often walking and looking at are teeny tiny and low to the forest floor. That said, I always thought wildlife would be nice too.

    2. Thank you. I'll share a few soon. My camera broke and a new used one arrives Friday. Cannot wait. How went your day?

  4. Oh, I had to do a similar biog and came up with 60 words. As you say, what else is there?
What did you think of the film in 2019? I've done the same thing.

    1. I got the bio to 100 words, but it feels like fluff.
It was a book I'd read in 2019. I was surprised to see I didn't like it that much, saying the characters weren't developed enough. This time it was better 🤔

  5. It's so funny you mentioned bird watching and feeling old! My husband and I have taken a keen interest in the birds that come to our feeder these days! I put a bird identifying app on my phone and now we know all about red winged blackbirds, brown headed cowbirds, nuthatches and a few others! We were just joking that that makes us officially old!

    1. Nice! There's an app for everything it seems. I think I'm just looking for excuses to go outside where there are trees.
