well, this day blowed

I was awakened this morning around 2:30.  The wind, she was a-howling!  I laid there thinking it was gonna blow the roof off, or the fence down, or suck the windows out.  None of those things happened, but I didn't really sleep either.

One weather guy referred to it as a "wind event".  At one point, I had this textversation with Meego:

Suffice to say, it was not a good day to be a tree.  Or, in some cases, a house... or a car.  Definitely not a good day to be a truck driver.  Tipped over tractor trailers were the scene of the day on the highway.

Magnum kept texting me photos of trees falling around his office.  Not a whole lotta work got done there with everyone watching the trees uproot.  I ventured outside and saw a large blue spruce laying down in the street 😟

As noted above, Meego's school, along with most others, didn't get much schoolin' in either.  But... pizza!  There was A LOT of pizza.

Pretty much all schools cancelled bus service since the wind would probably blow the busses over.  Meego normally walks to and from school, but today was not a day to be outdoors with debris flying around - trash, roof shingles, tree branches, trampolines... kitchen sinks?  I managed to pick him up after the nonproductive day, his spent mostly in the bandroom.

Of course, it could've been much worse.  I haven't heard of anyone being seriously hurt, and I had power in the house all day.  I'd started doing some needed painting around the house last week, so since I was stranded, I finished that up.

I like to stream movies while I'm doing such mindless work.  I streamed an awful awful movie.  The Heart Machine.  I don't even know what that title is supposed to mean.  But really, it was terrible.  Like watching paint dry (see what I did there?)

So... how was your day?

Your post title cracked me up! My day was a lot less windy than yours. Those texts read suspiciously like the ones I exchange with my college age brother...especially the one about pizza ;)

It's a good thing whoever got the pizza didn't blow away. Sounds awful, especially for the people flipped over or squashed by trees. I like your drawings though. I miss the days when there were pay phones around. I hope your foot is feeling better too.

Holy wind! I did see some videos on social media of large trees toppling into houses. I'm glad your electricity stayed on and school turned into pizza party day! The text conversation sounds like those between myself and the kiddos. :)
My day was not windy, but all the snow melted so everything was wet. My daughter had a tooth exposed and bracket put on, she was completely out of it for the rest of the day but did manage to do a presentation in the evening with the Girl Scout troop. She felt better when she was with her friends.

I think he was about to ask to be picked up. But then... pizza.

I wondered about the pizza people too!

Some of the large windows that broke were in the area where the students eat lunch, so it was "go pizza or go home". Needless to say, the area pizza places made good money.
Good for your daughter to sticking to her obligations! Glad she's feeling better.

We got your wind today. A few of our neighbors had their windows blown out, and another neighbor lost a tree. Crazy!
I don't think any trucks or buses toppled over, so at least there's that.

Can you imagine being inside that house when the tree hit?! It must have been the most horrendous boom... or bang... or bump.

I'm glad you and your family were our out the path.

Textversation... gotta use that one. I'm sure there will me numerous opportunities. :)

Sorry you had it too. What crud. Those Teletubbies had the right idea for a house.

I saw a guy on the news - a big chunk got blown off the house across the street from him, crashed through his house, and landed in the living room. Yeah, there was booming, banging, and bumping going on. I'm thankful I just lost some sleep!
