Silver Liningness Sunday

Happy Sunday!  We are experiencing grey skies, drizzle, and mud.  You?

But it's all good.  In fact, on Monday, Meego was off of school on account of marijuana appreciation day.  In addition, 4/20 is also the anniversary of the Columbine shootings.  Since Colorado is the site of the shootings AND has legalized recreational marijuana with the related "smoke-ins" that the day brings, most school districts smartly set that day as a professional development day.  Less volatility.   I'm in agreement.

So anyway, since he had the day off, we took a field trip after my class was done.  Remember that bike shop gift certificate I won last semester?  It was burning a hole in my dresser, so we went and spent it ALL at Old Town Bike Shop.

I was on the hunt for mudflaps for Bella because I'm tired of being sprayed up and down in our spring weather.  I found some lovely ones.  Bella looks a bit butch, but she seems to like it that way - on rainy days anyway.  She's made it clear that there will be no wicker basket to offset the butch flaps.

Meego talked me into getting him some fast tires for his bike and then commenced to picking out a nice pair.  After that, all that was left of my gift certificate was about $20, so I got a t-shirt to make sure we spent it all.

I'd never been to that store before and found it to be very nice, plus it's a nice bike ride to get there.  I'll be back, which is, I guess, one of the purposes of them donating the gift certificate :).

In other updates, Magnum and I continue to hunt for geocaches.  We've found some and searched in vain for others - all within easy walking distance from our house, so China is enjoying the adventures too.

And this semester is winding down - just a couple of more weeks.  So we are now in the throes of final papers and projects.  I'm busy, but very much enjoying the fray.  Have I mentioned how content I am with this master's program?  Yes?  Okay.

Speaking of which, I should stop blogging and get on with school stuff.  I have the words of Walter White echoing in my head. "Apply yourself!"  Because Magnum and I finally got on the Breaking Bad bandwagon and have become fully addicted to methamphetamine.

I LOVED Breaking Bad as much as The Walking Dead, and I love your cutsey pootsie hair style. Do you wear a helmet when you bike? Marijuana Day? For real? I've never had any, but since I moved to Florida I think of my field in Indiana and wonder why I never at least planted ONE plant......but I don't guess you can buy the seeds through Burpees Catalog.

Similar to TWD, I was hooked on Breaking Bad after my first hit. Certainly not so with marijuana in my case. But yes, the lawn in front of the Capital building in Denver is one of the hot spots on 4/20. I don't partake, but I won't complain about the revenue. Maybe Burpees should get on the bandwagon.
Yes, I typically wear a helmet and a stupid grin, among other things, when I ride my bikes.

Haven't yet gotten hooked on Breaking Bad. I need to finish my House of Cards fix first. Then I may hit GoT. Binge watching those shows can really distract you from your duties (like blogstress).
The gift cert is a nice way to get you into their store to buy more stuff. I had the same thing at our local running store that sponsored the Turkey trot That's how I got my new ASICs (on sale!!). But with all those choices, no bell for Bella?

That must have been some gift certificate! Sounds like you got a nice supply of stuff with your winnings. Cute t-shirt!

So China's in on the geocaching now too! I'll bet she loves it!

Aww! I was hoping to see Bella's mud flaps! Not that I didn't enjoy seeing you in your cute new t-shirt...
Nice to hear you're still loving your new master's program! Will you be taking summer classes?

We are in a similar place in the year - assignments all in, just the exams to go...

I sometimes consider getting some mud flaps, I regularly get soaked with spray from the road...

Ha ha, I liked your ending. I was seriously hooked on Breaking Bad. I'm a little envious that you get to experience it for the first time. I still have Game of Thrones, though.

When I paid for everything with the gift cert, I think the sales guy was a little disappointed that I didn't use it toward a $6000 bike. You betcha Bella has a bell! Maybe I'll get her a new one soon at this shop - almost like a $6000 bike.

It was a generous gift certificate. That's a fun way to shop! And yes, China is loving the geocaching, but she only finds garbage.

You're right, I should let Bella model too! I just snapped a pic of her in her mudflap glory to upload in a bit.
I've got one summer class and a pretty fat schedule of Band Mom on tap :)

I was informed that I'm a bit nuts for not having mudflaps. Welcome to the club!

We ration our watching of Breaking Bad to make it last. I already know I'll be sad when it ends.

So while we're on Breaking Bad - a drugstore here was held up when someone PLOWED INTO IT WITH A FORKLIFT and made off with the ATM. My friend who watches that show says that same thing happened in an episode, although the outcome wasn't nearly as good for the crooks on TV as it was in life. They still haven't caught them, despite the fact that they were driving down a major arterial in Portland with a fucking forklift with an ATM on top.

Wow! And I just watched the stolen ATM episode! How appropriate that it was a drug store heist, but not much of a getaway car.

And shoes....right? LOL

We did watch the spin off "Better Call Saul." I liked it and thought it was well done, but it was not as addicting as BB.
