Silver Liningness Sunday

Like many in the rest of the country, we're in a deep snowy freeze.  I can't complain much, though.  It's nice to not have anywhere I need to go.  I've organized my pantry, bookshelf, and desk.  Now what?

It is silver liningness day, but I must say that this week has been a rather dark one.  First, there's the coming out of flu fog (flog?), but early in the week, a friend's husband died.  Two days after that, another friend's son died.  Totally unrelated incidents in separate parts of the country.  So yes, darkness.

But we push ever onward. With that, I think I'll go shovel...

Okay, intermission over.

So Meego was supposed to have a winter percussion competition yesterday, but it got cancelled because of the snow.  At least the concert band concert went off without a hitch in typical fine fashion on Wednesday night.  Meego on the euphonium.  I sorta know what that is now.

Anyone going to watch the Oscar's tonight? I actually haven't seen many of the contenders.  In fact, it seems like the latest movies Magnum and I have watched have been unmemorable at best.

Anyway, I'm almost feeling like myself again and looking forward to a new week and melting snow. We're almost done with February! That's something, right?  Now, I think I'll go organize my sock drawer.

Sorry to hear about your troubles.

I'm looking forward to the Oscars tonight. I always get into it, including the fashions, which is weird because I am totally uninterested in clothes for every other day of the year. I hardly saw any of the movies this year (yet), but liked Boyhood and Wild and didn't like Grand Budapest Hotel.

Boyhood looks good, and I want to see Wild since I really enjoyed the book.

Things seem to be in a bit of a funk all around right now. So sorry to hear about the passing of your friends. Death never comes easy, even if it is distant. I pray that their families will find comfort and peace in their time of sorrow

Not really into all the Oscar hoopla. Seems to be an overblown narcissistic exercise for a bunch of overpaid egos and prima donnas. Won't really waste my time with the whole red carpet, whose wearing whom schtick. Normally, most of my movie likes are not oscar contenders, but I am interested to see how American Sniper turns out. Not really a fan of Bradley Cooper, but I hear/see that his role is supposed to be pretty good. I plan to earmark it on Netflix when it comes out. That I am really interested in seeing Wild. I may have to go get the book after I finish up with my current read (Lone Survivor).

I'm sorry to hear about your friends' losses. But glad to hear you're coming out of your flog.
I am currently watching the Oscars, but have seen none of the nominated films. I'm anxious to see American Sniper and Wild, but it'll probably be years before I do. Typical.
Hope you're able to dig out soon, and that the upcoming week will be a little happier and healthier.

Thanks for the kind thoughts, I know you're going through your share of grief too.
Haven't seen American Sniper, Wolfgang really liked it. Magnum would like to see it too, but I'm in no hurry. I really enjoyed reading Wild, although I didn't expect to. One of those books I was sorry to have end.

Sad news from friends, the flog... I'm ready for things to turn a corner!
I've been peeking in on the Oscars just occasionally. I've seen Grand Budapest Hotel, but the others are a "someday".
School's already been called off for Meego tomorrow, that's always a cheerful thing.

I'm so sorry for the loss of your friends. Life surely doesn't seem fair sometimes.

Glad to hear your making your way out of the flog. Nice timing that you're stuck at home during a time when you'd otherwise be stuck at home anyway.

I was a bit oblivious to the fact that the Oscars were on television this past weekend. Like Shadowrun, I'll probably see some of the nominees eventually ... but it could be years!

I'm really sorry - sudden losses are so hard to wrap your brain around. For me at least.

Hope you dig out soon.
