Silver Liningness Sunday

Happy first weekend of officially summer!  Gosh, the days feel so much shorter now.

Another fine week was had.  First of all, Meego FINALLY agreed to let me cut his hair.  Afterwards, he actually confessed to liking it.

We'll see if it adversely affects his guitar-playing.

Also, I FINALLY went to the "squishy place" this week.  Recall that I got a bit of a nasty-gram from my doctor a while back because I hadn't gone in for that mammogram she'd ordered several months ago.  Well, I got another nasty-gram a couple of weeks ago because I still hadn't gone.  Fine.  Now it's done, so hopefully the mail stops.  I have to admit, the place is very efficient as far as most medical places go.  Get in, get squished, get out.

We watched Catching Fire this week.  I'd never read the book after reading the first Hunger Games.  It's not that I think the story/writing bad, just the opposite really.  I find the whole premise so disturbing.  Magnum says I'm supposed to find it disturbing, and I DO.  Anyway, I was glad I hadn't read the book because the big reveal at the end totally threw me.

And in general, it's just been a pretty productive week.  I'm switching programs at the university - that's a whole 'nother story.  My application for the new program was accepted, and I'm looking forward to getting going in the fall.

I'm slowly getting to know my new PEO sisters, and they're a fun bunch.  We had a meeting this week at the Colorado chapter house - I think there are only 3 chapter houses in the country - which I'd never been to.  Nice setting.  AND, we're making inroads into the mainstream!  Broke into Jeopardy last week.  "I'll take initials for 600 please, Alex!" (actually, I know neither the category nor the dollar amount, I just got the screen shot in my e-mail).

Anyone?  (Not you, Judy)

OUCH. Glad you're done getting squished. I think he'll do better playing guitar, btw, without the hair in his face ;)

YAY P.E.O.! I know EXACTLY what that P stands for! ;)

I know what the P stands for too. But only because I googled it a while back when you first mentioned joining.
Great job on Meego's hair! He actually let you take a before and after pic? Didja have to bribe him?
And congrats on gettin' squished. I need to go too. Just waiting for my reminder letter....

Warning - the cutting of hair can seriously harm you ability to rock out on the guitar. Fortunately I don't think that Meego's cut is short enough for that.

It was actually Meego who suggested the Before and Afters. Probably in case I totally botched the 'do!

Yes you do! 'nuff said!

The squish seems so... untechnical.

Hopefully he can still dance.

Every time I see a picture of Meego on your blog lately, I wonder about his hair. I know your boys have typically maintained buzz cuts. Obviously, Meego is breaking with tradition. Don't tell him I said so because I know it would seem an embarrassing description, but he looks cute with his hair that way!

I am overdue for my squishing (again.) Thanks for the reminder. I need to get all that annual stuff done. Plus an eye exam, which should be so much less intimidating!

I think I googled P.E.O. once after you'd written about it, but I've forgotten already. So I won't google it again before commenting. Wouldn't be fair!

Yeah, all the other guys, including Magnum, prefer buzz cuts. I leave it up to them to make their hair "appointments". I think Meego likes to assert his individuality through his hair.

I'm actually looking forward to the next eye exam. Totally giving into the bifocals calling.

Good for you to get your squishy exam done. We tend to put off those wonderful experiences until way past the due date. I am supposed to have one of those "hosey" exams sometime this year but somehow I just cannot seem to find the time (or motivation) to make the appointment. Good luck on the eye exam - hopefully you can avoid the "bifocal" word.

Good haircut. I am sure it won't affect his guitar playing too much.

I'll take squishy over hosey any day! And I'm already imagining a bifocal life, but not for my bicycle specs - that's too much!
