So he calls and talks about how sunny, how warm, how blah blah blah.... Yes, how nice. *snark*
I went off to bed with my wool blanket.
Next morning, I turned on my phone and it quickly spills out a series of text messages.
"Our van was broken into..."
"Stole all the laptops..."
.
.
.
Followed by a list of tasks for ME. Change passwords, block online access, identity protection plans... Oh, caca, hay chihuahua.
Oh, and also, could I meet him at the airport on Friday because he doesn't have a key for the Civic. Anymore.
Well, I could meet him if he cared to wait around for a coupla hours. But then Chaco volunteered for key dropoff duty. All in all, it could've been worse. And he still got all that sunshine and Corona. And Karma will get the banditos.
.
Oh what a pain in the butt, and it sounded like it involved you in much more work than Magnum. Next time I'm sure he'll be less smug about the sunshine. :D
ReplyDeleteI think one or two of the other guys had their passports stolen also, so extra pain for them. At least Magnum had his with him.
DeleteYikes. We felt like something such as that would happen to us when we spent the night in Atlanta two summers ago on our way back from Disney. We hauled every last iota of anything out of the car up to the hotel room to keep with us and then hauled it alllllllllllll back down the next morning to continue our trip. Two other cars were burglarized that night at the hotel, but I'm sure whoever it was saw how empty ours was and realized it wasn't worth it! So sorry that happened...even when in sunny Mexico. Such a downer.
ReplyDeleteWe usually do the same with lugging all our stuff in and out when at a hotel. It's worth it in the end, and encourages people to travel light!
DeleteWhat the heck is wrong with people?! Just yesterday, a group of our guests had a car broken into while they were at the City Museum downtown. Stole all the kids' suitcases. And the week before some other guests had their diaper bag stolen while they were at lunch. I hope Karma can keep up.
ReplyDeleteAt least Magnum wasn't hurt. But how aggravating!
Geesh, who the heck steals a diaper bag?! Around here, the hot spots for vehicle break-ins are the hiking trailheads. How welcoming! I hope Karma can keep up too.
DeleteOh, no! What a hassle--for you. I am glad everyone was safe.
ReplyDeleteMagnum has some suspicions about it being an inside job with the restaurant they were at, based on observations. Ya just never know.
DeleteWhat a pain.
ReplyDeleteVery true, but nice to see YOU, stranger!
DeleteI've lived in places where it was actually advised to leave your windows OPEN. Sends the message "Nothing here to steal" -- plus they won't break the glass to get inside anyway.
ReplyDeleteSo ill-mannered, those banditos.
I usually leave the civic with the windows open, hoping someone will take the "stereo". No takers yet.
DeleteUgh. You can't trust anyone anymore. So sorry you had to deal with such a hassle. At least it was just "stuff" that got messed with and no one was hurt or in danger. I hope karma does a double number on the banditos.
ReplyDeleteYep, it was just "stuff", and not TOO much of a hassle. Those banditos will get what's coming to them!
DeleteSo you see? He shouldn't have been taunting you! Seriously, that sucks. I hate theft. It's just so personal and violating. Love the LOLcat though.
ReplyDeleteNo matter where we go there are twits around who take what is not theirs. You are so right about Karma. They better watch out!
ReplyDeleteHopefully, karma will catch up with the thief. Maybe they'll get some Montazuma's Revenge.
