what would confucius say?

And then there was light!  And it was goooooood.

Sun came out today.  Halleluiah.

I think all those cloudy days affected our judgement.  Magnum, Meego and I watched Sharknado over the weekend.  It was so awful it was awful.  Really.  Don't go there.  Don't.

But one thing I am curious about... our dog.  Y'know, China?  Now she's not as young as she used to be, and she's never been the sharpest tool in the shed, but lately she's been having trouble with the stairs.

When she comes inside, there are about 5 steps to climb to get to the main floor.  Sometimes, she goes right up like nothing.  Other times, she does a spin move, but just can't seem to figure out what to do next.

At first I thought it was her arthritis, which isn't that bad really.  And she really gets around quite well, and goes up the steps in the backyard and curbs and everything on our walks.  It's just getting from the front hall to the main floor.

It's like she's not sure what to do.  Like she's forgotten the next move.  Maybe it's a coordination thing?  Sometimes she hangs out at the foot of the stairs, looking up to where she'd like to go, seemingly not sure what to do?  I give her a few minutes to reset, then I call her, and she comes on up without a problem.

Wha...?

Glad to hear the sun came out!

As for China.... ??? Lucy will sometimes do crazy things, I think, to see what reaction she can get from us. Which has resulted, among other things, in us having to share apples whenever we eat them. Maybe China has decided she doesn't want to walk up the stairs and would like someone to carry her?

Hmmm... Chancie will sometimes sit at the bottom of the stairs and look up and even bark sometimes for help. But it's definitely her arthritis. You have to wonder if China's got another motive for not wanting to climb the stairs. Or maybe she really has just forgotten how. Alzheimer's?
Thanks for the warning about Sharknado. And hooray for sun!

Custard is terrible with stairs - He has to go all the way up or down in one go, regardless of anyone or anything in the say, such as little Frou Frou...

I am hoping to get hold of Sharknado over Christmas. It just sounds unmissable to me - a few beers, some nibbles, a warm blanket, a dog on my lap...

Yeah, who knows. Still a mystery. At least she hasn't started telling us how to eat our apples!

If only they could talk. And I'm thinking Sharknado is not the movie for you either. I hear there's a sequel. 8/

Custard's method sounds similar to China's. It's all or nothing. As for you and Sharknado - yeah, maybe you should see it!

I like your Genesis take on the sun. You are such a biblical scholar!

I hope China is okay.

The problems I've had in the past with our cats (not the current ones) are that they want to run up and down the wrong stairs...in NYC, I had a cat who ran up to the top floor of my walk-up apartment. I had to lure him back down with the milk carton.
