Lush

"Just wait until you've been there a while, then see what you need", was the motherly advice I gave Wolfgang when he first moved into his dorm.

One of the conveniences of having him and Chaco attending college so (very) close by is that it's easy to stock "necessities" that may have gone forgotten.  So it was no surprise when I got a text from Wolfgang:

"Can we go shopping today?  I need some stuff for my dorm and clothes"

I thought of texting back a snarky reply like, "What stuff do you need for your clothes?", but decided not to bring the grammar police into this.

Instead, I picked him up, we shopped.  And shopped.

Hours later, I dropped him off and caught up with Chaco who had a pair of my gloves I wanted back.  He came back to the house with me for "some stuff".

So where did the day go?  Oh well, it was pretty expected.  But as a result, my Illustration Friday play, where the prompt is "lush", was a rush.

I think I made up for it with this serious and complex composition...

With Chip being so close, he comes by often for things he needs. Sometimes I don't know he's been here until I go looking for something and it's gone.
Link doesn't have it that easy being so far away. Luckily he doesn't NEED much.
I think your rushed Lush is wonderful! Brought a smile to my face!

I agree with shadowrun - Your frog is so cute and happy in his colorful habitat, and does bring on a cheery feeling.

As for your boys - I think they're living the best of both worlds: easy access to Mom and Dad, food, clothes, and shelter, yet living sorta on their own.

Lucky for them. :)

Again your discretion impresses; it's hard for me to hold back the reins of the grammar police, but I don't think I could NOT swing for the fence with a set up like that!

I think it's the texting... Our kids know proper grammar, but the text message rules (or lack thereof) seem to indicate that anything goes. I just can't bring myself to refer to "you" as "u."

You DO have a nice set-up with the boys being out of the house but still so close by. I'll bet it makes life easier all around for everyone.

Love your little frog. He belongs in a story book.

That's so great that you are nearby when they need you.

My son had his first job this summer. He called a few times during long shifts because he was starving and wanted some food if I could bring it. (The boy is pretty much always hungry.)

According to my daughter, it's not cool to text "u" for "you", so I had to quit doing it. At least when I text her! :)

Chaco does the same thing - just swings by and grabs stuff on occasion. In fact, just this morning, I noticed our stash of band-aids has been totally pilfered!

It is a nice transition stage. We refer to it as "the halfway house".

Thanks!

Lucky for him, I was outside walking China and Magnum and didn't want to deal with sun glare on my phone screen. So he got a "Yah".

I sure don't miss huge the grocery hauls, seemingly every other day. Or the messes. Or lost car keys...

Sometimes I'll text a "u r gr8" just because it annoys them so much.

I remember going grocery shopping with Wolfgang and he kept putting stuff in the cart. I told him he shouldn't go grocery shopping when he's hungry. "But... I'm always hungry".

Yea, sometimes having them so close by can be a blessing or a curse.

Cute frog/prince.
