Tension

I was at the orthodontist with Meego again this week.  Another broken retainer wire *sigh*.   The technician asked him, "Did the dog get hold of it?", "Did it get shaken around in the case a lot?"

As I recall, he was sitting at the table doing some homework when he said, "huh?  My retainer wire just broke".

This week's prompt at Illustration Friday is "tension", and I drew some braces, either to illustrate the action of the braces on crooked teeth, or my internal scream from another broken retainer wire.

Okay, it's really not that big a deal, I guess I'm just a little wired.  Heh,  get it?  Wired?  Pffffft....

My teeth were a mess, but my mom took me to the dentist and said "Pull the ones that stick out the most" Now, no dentist would do that, but my teeth spread out and required no braces. I don't think I could have stood them.

I think we're going to get by without any children in braces (knock on wood). But from what I've heard, I think your choice for "tension" is right on. In all aspects of the word.

Heh heh I get it. You are cracking me up here. You turned a concern into a great drawing, stirred in some humor, and shared a nice post with us.

This totally makes my teeth hurt, just looking at it. Great drawing.

All three of my kids had braces. One of them had them on for almost 5 years. Your drawing brings back memories! I'm glad to be done with the days of sitting in an orthodontist's waiting room.

Good solution for IF. I remember those days of elastics and braces on my hubby. Tension indeed.

Haha. Oh dear, I remember those. Though I had the bands that go around your teeth (and are very bad for teeth, and are not used anymore!) I also had a retainer. And a palette spreader. Fun times! Wonderful drawing of braces. There is no mistaking those evil little things!

We did ever have any problems with the wires and tension on Stephen's braces. Now, he did have to endure several adjustments and e-surge.
