Happy weekend. First of all, it just didn't feel right to let an Illustration Friday go by without a proper illustration. So for the prompt "wild", I'm sticking with the feral man theme... This time of year, my thoughts can drift to such things. Y'know, camping and stuff... Bathing outside... Watercolors... That kind of thing...
It was a good and productive week, but I did end up spending a lot of time hanging out in my left brain. I'm thankful for the right brain time, and my Illustration Friday OCD helps insure I get a token amount.
We did get that snow day, and while I wasn't happy with a blustery snowstorm in April, I'm thankful I didn't have to be out in it!
As mentioned, Wolfgang and the track team had another successful meet this weekend. It was the first official local one since another previous one had gotten canceled, and it was nice to be able to watch the fun.
In somewhat related news, I'm glad to report that my friend has found an appropriately tallish victim to fulfill the role of Lumber for next week's elementary school fundraiser. Poor sucker. But at least I'm no longer being subjected to the sad puppy eyes.
I hope it's sunny and warm where you are! Now, go shower!

It is lovely here today, but it has been very cold lately. We had no snow down here, but definitely half way up the mountains.
Congratulations to your track stars!
Very glad your friend found a Lumber and will direct her gaze elsewhere now :)
We keep getting days of snow here, but somehow never get that elusive snow day! Your weather patterns must be like a roller coaster if you had a snow day last week AND still managed to have weather nice enough for a track meet!
Good to hear that a suitable Lumber personality was found. Somehow I just know that you would have become involved if one was not found.
Hooray for the Lumber victim, I mean volunteer!
I have been complaining about our weather, but at least we're not getting snow. The temps will drop back into the 50s this week, but I see now that's not as bad as you and Terri are experiencing. Still... I want 80s!
And as usual, I love the artwork!
It's warming, but we have to deal with April winds - not a fan.
It's actually very common that we get at least one snow day every April. Then a few days later, we're out in short sleeves. Very moody month. Maybe that's why "April" is a girl's name?
"drop back into the 50s"?? You've had better? Jealous! I would love me some 70s!
Wow Abby - amazing and powerful work as always!
Glad that someone other than you got lumbered with Lumber!
That is a great picture.. Hope you don't mind me asking, but the proportions are really good - did you trace from a photo or something?
It was cold in Ohio for the weekend, and even colder for me because I spent the weekend outside with my brothers replacing a fence. I'm ready for spring!!
Thanks Tony :)
Yes, this time I first traced the outline with a 2H pencil using this photo:

Then I used watercolor pencils to add details and colors. I cleaned it up with a 0.5mm mechanical pencil. Fun :D
I've got a fence needs fixing if you're looking for more work!
I see you opted to retain Feral Man's loincloth.
Prudent, given your blog's PG rating....
Absoloodle!
Thank God for that - a person should only have so much talent ;-)
I'm glad you kept to your mantra of saying now and didn't step to to do Lumber this year. See? They'll just have to figure out how to make it work and will learn how to survive without you.
"We did get that snow day, and while I wasn't happy with a blustery snowstorm in April, I'm thankful I didn't have to be out in it!"
I can't believe y'all are STILL getting snow!
Also, that picture is amazing.
Feral man is striking! Driping with color - very cool and such a display of your creativity.
