I honestly don't have a whole lot of sympathy for her because (1) it's the internet, (2) I don't care to watch kids (or anyone else) taking care of their personal bodily functions and don't find such photos "cute", (3) it's the internet, (4) there are sickos out there who will be all over pics of bottomless toddlers, and (5) it's the internet! If someone wants photos to be seen by only a select few, they don't post them where the entire developed world has access to them.
As I read, I learned a few things. I learned that I could search my own photos by simply dragging them to the search box in google images. Did you know that?? I didn't know until reading about the potty trainer.
Out of curiosity, I did a spot check of a few photos. Thankfully, my blog was the only place they showed up. Interestingly, the search also calls up "visually similar images". Allow me to share some of my results:
My image 1 |
visually similar image 1 |
How so very flattering.
My image 2 |
Visutally similar image 2 |
It's Brittany, Bitch!
Visually similar image 3 |
Okay, this match is shockingly accurate.
Have you googled yourself lately? It's not a sin, it's only natural and healthy.

The only criterea would seem to be the amount of each colour in the images!
Might try this myself...
Yep, just tried it and got some fun results. Will post them on my blog later...
I think it is mainly a color match, with a little bit of composition. I'll check out your fun results!
Shocking! Not that her pics were found by a pedophile, but that she never considered it could happen. Either way, you gotta wonder why she was posting pics of them in action.
I will absolutely be googling my pics! I had NO idea! Another blog lesson learned!
It bothers me that she even posted the photos in the first place, and was so clueless. Besides, what non-sicko wants to see that? But I held my tongue/typing, since she taught me this new trick.
I know! I love the new trick! I found some pretty funny similar images. :)
She learned something. We learned something.
Neat. Learned a new trick today. Now I have something entirely new to waste the weekend on. Thanks!
It is interesting to see what they define as "similar images". As for the mom, she should know better. Nothing you post on the net should be considered as safe or private.
HA, that's what crossed my mind too - "great, another distraction".
I had heard you could google photos but never tried it until today. I dragged one and came up with three different results... all on my blog, which is good I guess. But apparently I'm reusing the same photos in multiple posts!
The "visually similar results" sure are strange though!
And to think there was a time when people's main concern was that "their head/face" would be put on the pic/body of a naked person and displayed in some sort of media. Now, all you have to do is find a seriously naive (to put it nicely) parent who'll make it easy for any predator out there.
I'll be trying the Google Image, too!
I don't have any sympathy either. Like you said, once you post in on the internet, it can end up anywhere.
If you really want something to STAY private?
DONT POST IT ON THE INTERNET.
The end!
