life begins at 65

Or at least it seems that way today.  It was sunny and 65 degrees.  January?!

I don't want to go all Weather Channel, but really it was just too nice to not mention.  For one, I get a lot more company at the crosswalk.  Wasn't I just all alone and freezing my butt off last week?  These last couple of days, it seems that literally everyone and their grandma is walking to and from school.

And today, I noticed how much easier things are when it's nice out.  Not having to bundle up, not having to work so hard to keep breathing while not freezing a lung, not having to keep moving or die.  Is there a way to keep this and still have water next summer?

And with spring in the air, you know what that means!  *wink*wink*nudge*nudge  Oh yeah you betcha... cleaning!

Monday was a day off school, so I had some extra time and just couldn't stop myself.  Wolfgang even came in and asked, "What's that smell?".

That would be the smell of clean.

Even Magnum, in all his Aspergerness, noticed in just a few seconds.  Amazing!

... or maybe I should do that more often.

Whatever you do, don't let them get used to the smell of clean... they'll come to expect it.
Wait. What am I thinking. They're boys....
Hard to believe it's 65 there! We're having true winter weather here, and it's expected to stay. I suppose I'm happy for you, but I'd sure hate for you to have another dry summer.

Clean? What does that smell like? I keep smelling wet dog for some reason. At those temps, I assume you've aired out the house again. Great smell/feeling after being cooped up for weeks on end. Hard to imagine you guys at 65. That just doesn't seem right for Colorado in January.

Yeah, expectations are pretty low around here...
And yes, 65, while nice, also feels weird. We need a snow dance.

Yep yep, had all the windows open! Well... except for the ones with the Christmas lights still attached...

I sometimes wonder about the early American settlers. Travelling west and suddenly saying "Yes, this is the place to live!" In the case of Colorado, I can imagine them getting to the edge of the plains, looking at the hills and mountains and thinking "bugger that, we are stopping here". But after a couple of winters? Must have been some tough people!

Freezing the lungs, I so understand. I am a big fan of neck scarves, that I can pull over my nose to keep out the cold air. It will never get to 65 here for a few months.

Well, yes, there are a few stories of "having friends for dinner".

I own about 5 scarves, just in case I lose 4.

Yes,I have heard some of them. Of course, my favourite story about Colorado is the movie Hallelujah Trail - the men of Denver can't face winter with no whiskey, the women want to stop it arriving, the Indians want to steal it and the army (in the form of Burt Lancaster) just wants a quiet life...

Well that answers my earlier question! You ARE enjoying balmy weather! Jealous.

What is it about being cooped up while it's cold outside that makes us feel lazy and not much like cleaning? When it's nice out, we should be out! Instead, we feel the need to clean.

Been on a cold streak around here, peaking temps only in the low 30's (and damp). Newspaper just a few days ago headlined the "temperature inversion", noting that folks at a few thousand feet elevation (but still nearby) were enjoying balmy temps.

"HEY! YA COULDA TOLD US DOWN HERE!"

WHAT???????????? It's 11 degrees over here. ELEVEN. And like negative a million when the wind blows.

LOWs of 19, give or take, and HIs of 30 here in central Virginia, and we don't like it! Take it back...please! And send us our 65, or at least 45. :)
