Kernel

Children of the Corn?

This week's Illustration Friday prompt is "kernel".  I found this to be a challenging prompt.  About the only thing I could think of was popcorn.   I like popcorn.  The only time I eat it, however, is when I'm watching a movie.  And only if I'm watching with someone else.  What is it about movies and popcorn?

Looking up the definition yielded:

ker·nel

noun
1. the softer, usually edible part contained in the shell of a nut or the stone of a fruit.
2. the body of a seed within its husk or integuments.
3. a whole seed grain, as of wheat or corn.
4. South Atlantic States . the pit or seed of a peach, cherry, plum, etc.
5. the central or most important part of anything; essence; gist; core:

What I latched onto for the illustration was that 5th and final definition.  Kernel as the central or most important part of anything.  It's not so much the movie or the popcorn.

It's about experiencing it with a friend.  That's the important part.

Exactly. Great illustration, and a wise interpretation of the definition.

Excellent sketch. I love popcorn, but I don't have it all that often. I recall the old movie style popcorn at the theaters. You know - that 5 gallon bucket of movie house popcorn that is drenched in butter and has got more salt than a salt lick. Best shared with a friend (or two). Just bring a towel.

Fantastic expressions! Wow, you really caught the light coming off the screen, too. Well done!

I'm all for popcorn and a movie, but I prefer drama, action and comedies over scary movies. I love their expressions, though! I can't help but wonder what they're watching! Nice work, once again!

An excellent piece, a brilliant idea! The look on those girls' faces is so realistic, yet humorous--a modern-day Norman Rockwell-type scene!

I don't know what it is about movies and pop corn but I love it too, specially when I'm watching a horror movie and not alone.
I guess that makes me a children of corn XD
