Yesterday afternoon, back to crosswalk duty after spring break week, a couple of my regular customers were making predictions. We stood there in the blustery wind, our respective hoodies revealing just small portions of our rosy cheeked faces.
Purple hood: We're supposed to get 6 to 10 inches of snow.
Me: Really?? *looks at the blue sky, just a few clouds blowing around*
Red hood: Hey, maybe you won't have to work here tomorrow.
Me: Don't count on it. If I were you, I'd do my homework tonight.
But the hooded prophets were correct! We're having a freaking snow day! I think this is number 4 on the school year.
This morning, while not freezing at the crosswalk, I went onto my f*book to catch any teacher friend comments. I wasn't surprised to see several:
"So yeah, I check my f*book rather than the district website to see if it's a snowday" *addict*
"Snow day... F**K yes!" *whoa?*
Then I came across this:
OH WAIT, he's done it again. Wolfgang has logged onto his f*book on "my" computer. This is his feed, not mine!
Logoff! LOG. OFF!
I've seen our future. It looks a lot like my past.

I think I'll go to my prude act and say, "Oh My." LOL
Did we actually say things like that about school when we were there?
Love your fun conversations at the crosswalk. :)
I've never seen that before--it's hilarious!
And that's what I got in trouble for most often, sleeping!
I hadn't seen those either! Too funny!
But more importantly.... you had a snow day???? What is up with that? We have been WAY off on our temps too. Record highs in the 90s, but we've stayed in the 90s. We may drop down to 70s tomorrow, but for you to be hot one day and snowed in the next? That's crazy weird.
My eldest son got in trouble for doodling in French class. It was my fault because I told him to do that to keep himself awake. When the teacher gave him heck, my son said, "Would you rather I doodle or sleep?" Yup, he got kicked out that day and I got a phone call.
"His future looks a lot like my past" Love it...so true when I think of my eldest, too.
Wow! You guys are having some wacky weather it seems! Blue skies and then snow the next day? We had something like that happen over here, except it was rain instead. My boyfriend said it would rain the very next day and then it did. What is the world coming to x.x?
To paraphrase Forrest Gump, April in Colorado is like a box o' chocolates...
I personally think that's pretty good advice - doodle to keep yourself awake in school!
We'll never know for sure what we said. There was no f*book back then!
I'm thinking some bright non-conformist came up with those while in class.
It's definitely wacky weather time. Tomorrow is supposed to be close to 70.
You went from sweating to snow day in the course of a couple of days? That is some CRAZY weather.
Glad to hear those were no the teachers' sentiments on Facebook!

Nice to hear the weather is as crazy as it is down here. Rainy/storms the last two days (Dallas-Fort Worth was hammered with tornadoes) and today is to be clear and back in the 80s.
And I was starting to wonder about the district's f-book comments. Thought someone had gone a bit off the deep end there.
One day here we came within two degrees of the all time high here and it was darn hot. So weird for this time of year. The locals are predicting more snow though later this month. We shall see.
We had a tornado in January here. Snow is something we get, but not this year. We had temps as high as 86 in March.
Tim in Kentucky.
Oh - I'm so happy when my daughter tells me this - she was a hellion and now she has a son. It's pay-back time!
