rolling around

to i:  "Get real!"

HAHAHahahahahah...  *cough*  sorry.

Happy pi day!  As a certifiable geek, I admit that I am a pi lover.

In a world where nothing gold can stay, I appreciate the constants.  So I thought we should celebrate.

Did you know that entire songs and raps and poems have been written about pi?   I thought I should attempt to pen a poem.  I made mine an acrostic poem:

Precious  pi
I really like you

Okay, so maybe I didn't actually celebrate pi day.  But I do like it because it means that it's nearly spring.  And I have been doing some spring cleaning/purging, unloading stuff left and right.  I'm not really a sentimental person when it comes to things.  I'm more of an out-with-the-old-in-with-the-new.

I guess in celebration of pi day and spring, I did manage to get myself a new hoodie today.  And I'm still struggling to become fluent in Spanish.  What would out-with-the-old be without some in-with-the-new?  Full circle, right?  For pi day?

What are you looking to get rid of?  Or do you hold onto things forever?  What are you looking to acquire?

I like pi too. Pecan Pi is my favorite.

Oh... never mind.

I'm somewhere in the middle with that keep-or-throw thing. I keep things that I can't bear to part with. Then a while later, I stumble across them and think, "WHY am I hanging on to this?" And then it goes. It's a process that works for me.

My grandmother has given me soooo much stuff over the years, trying to purge her house of things. Now there are boxes of her things in MY basement. I feel guilty about getting rid of them, so I've been holding on to them for years. I have a feeling at some point I'll need to let them go. Especially because I want to ACQUIRE a house in Florida.... and I don't plan on bringing much with me. :)

Happy Pi Day! Another geek holiday to celebrate.
I am too much of a horder on some things. Not like those extreme cases you see on the reality shows, but I do tend to to hold on to old stuff for silly, sentimental reasons. We are trying to clear out some old books, records, clothes, but it is a slow process. I understand the spring cleaning, need to purge, time to let go feeling.

I keep things for ever.

Looking for a new 8-string bass guitar to go with the amp.

Next year I am going BIG on Pi day...

I'm always in for a geek holiday! : )
I really throw away everything I haven't used for a while. I'm not materialistic/sentimental enough to keep things just because they mean something to me or because they costed a lot. They only mean something to me when I can use them (Oh god, so good I don't apply this principle to people as well :p). Anyway, that means that in my head (and my house) it's spring forever!! : ) Yey!!
I do want to get rid of my old race bike though. But I'm only keeping it because I need a new one first. : )

I think pecan pi day is a good idea. You should celebrate it with that pecan pi baking brother of yours!

Oooh, that's a tough situation. Don't want to mess with Grandma.

Records? You still have records??

I think a new 8-string to go with forever-kept Baby is a good idea for a Pi day 2013 concert.

Thanks for the acknowledgement Elizabeth. That poem took a lot out of me ;)

AHA! I kindred clutterphobia spirit. And just to clarify, I don't treat people that way either!

And... "race bike"? As in human powered, or are you referring to the the nun machine?

I have gotten rid of some things this week as a matter of fact. Large roll of carpet taking up space in the garage and a window air conditioner went to the son of my friend for his rehab farm house. Now I am sorting the rest of garage items and getting ready for the community yard sale June 2nd. If I am not using something, I would rather give it away to someone who would make use of it. It is only stuff, and we are all in this life together, so we may as well share the things with each other.

Completely human powered, yes. So far, no nun machine for me anymore. : )
But it's hard to choose...

I agree! Some people like to hold onto things because they think they might need it someday. I think there's a Karmic aspect to giving stuff away, that if I need it later, I'll have it. What goes around comes around.

You throw stuff away and you have a race bike. Are you a long lost twin?? I think you need a blog for us to visit :).

Oh lord, yes. Led Zeppelin, Black Sabbath, Willie Nelson, CCR. I even have a working turntable.

A long lost twin at the other side of the ocean... Who knows. ; )
And about that blog... maybe one day... But I don't think so, because I know that I miss the discipline for that (I use it for my bike ; )). Reading blogs (and sometimes commenting) is enough for now.
