Greetings and welcome to Illustration Friday on Sunday. I'm a day behind my usual fun, but I've been on safari! Well... not really, but the prompt is "safari", so yeah, sorta.
Several years ago, I read all about Henry Stanley and his travels through Africa. It was how I spent Meego's preschool year. Such adventure! Such hardship! (the African thing... not preschool, not really).
Ever since, I've remained interested in the early explortion of Africa and think it would be fun to go on a safari. I'm not a hunter, though. If I ever make it there, it will be more comparable to Eliza Thornberry, and hiding behind the guys with the big guns.

A frightening perspective, but I'm with you- I hope to only stay "behind" the guy with the gun! And I'll be happy to hunt only with my eyes! :o)
Great drawing! Feels so historic. I can almost hear the natives beating on their drums in the background!
Yikes! It's the hunter from Jumanji!
I've had friends who've loved their trips to Africa but...ugh, count me out!
Nice! And I think the gun's definitely large enough to take down an elephant! Glad it's not pointed directly at the viewer!
Great drawing.
Reminds me of a Tarzan episode I saw just two days ago.
So much interesting world history to delve into. Early exploration of Africa is a good one.
If you can don't go on that safari anytime soon, after my youngest goes off to college, I'll go with you. :)
Oh, have you ever heard of, or read, Things Fall Apart, by Chinua Achebe?
Gar. Was going to do the Jumanji reference, but Whodat? beat me to it. Great sketch.
Great character! Very expressive face. :)
Heisann!
Strange, my first association was Stanley!
You have done a great job ;:OD)
