Illustration Friday on Saturday! This week's prompt is "warning", so I made this Public Service Announcement.
I've been a school crossing guard for about 2 months now. My latest trick is to stand and point my cell phone at the speeders. It makes them think I'm filming them and usually has the desired effect of slowing traffic down. It has yet to have the undesired effect of pissing someone off to the point of them getting out of their car to beat me up and/or smash my phone.
And... I am now well stocked with candy. But not every shift. It's best to keep them guessing.

Excellent tactic. Nothing pisses me off more than people who blow through school zones. Since they won't give you a gun or bazooka, I'd recommend you keep your cell phone handy and keep on taking faux pictures.
When I first saw this painting, I thought it was a photograph--that's how good it is! And the bend in the sign--that's ingenious!
Ditto Scott! I was reading "Illustration Friday" and wondering "Where's the illustration?"
Keep those speeders in line and be safe!
Yeah, what everybody else said! All those speeders know they should slow down. You're just reminding them.
Wonderful point of view...both the illustration and enforcement/deterant!
Oooh, I love that trick! I used to do it all the time when I had my 97 Ghetto-LeSabre, but now I have the Mama-Volvo with tinted windows, so no one can see me with my fake-picture-taking moves.
That is AWESOME! You go, Crossing Guard Mom!
Your colors, your lines...all done VERY well. First thought, like the others, was that it was a photo. For a second or two, I was comparing it to our school crossing signs.
I can still do that though. :)
I wonder what other places this job will lead you to; because I know it will.
Either I am really sleep deprived, or your drawing is awesome, because like everyone else, I thought it was a photo at first.
(actually, it's both. I -am- sleep deprived and your drawing is also awesome)
