diary

Happy Illustration Friday, once again.

This week's prompt is "diary". Now, I've never kept a written diary, but I remember the intrigue of them when I was younger - in the days before the internet. I think I had a couple of friends who kept diaries with connotations of deep secret secrets!

I never really had the initiative to keep one though. I was more on the extroverted side, and when I did partake of the necessary "quiet time", I was usually drawing or painting or just lazing about in general.

I discovered blogging a few years ago, however, and I've been oversharing on the internet ever since.

  1. This is a wonderfully evocative illustration! Great composition and textrues in the book and hair. The face part color seems a little too flat in comparison to the rest, but I really love the "secretiveness" this picture evokes.

  4. Great illustration.
I'm of the same mind - never had much use for diaries in my younger days. I find it funny that diaries used to be secret/private notes to our selves but now we are willing to share our thoughts with the world via the internet.

  5. If by oversharing, you mean people youve never met could write a fairly lengthy and detailed autobiography. Well, so be it. Mostly you make me laught though.

  6. I love the colors of this and the way you are drawn into the picture. It's like you want to look over the top of the diary and take a peek too.

  7. also I meant biography. I am sure I could write a fairly lengthy and accurate autobiography with our without your alleged oversharing, but nevermind that.

  8. It's weird how clueless I was reading back on old diaries.

It makes me wonder if later on down the line, I'll look back at my online journals and think the same thing. :P

    Lovely illustration.
