Silver Liningness Sunday

We're almost through the month of January.  I've noticed the days getting a teeny bit longer with each passing week.  Have you noticed??

I've already mentioned the mild weather we've been having.  It's hard to fully enjoy it, knowing we need the moisture.  But still,  it's nice for people on bicycles and in hideous crossing guard vests.

This week, I went to get the Element registered.  You know what that means... {dun dun duuuuuuun!}... the dreaded DMV.  At least I didn't need to go to the teenagers-and-criminals DMV for this task.  I went to the pretty one.  Know how much time I was stuck there?  Go 'head, guess...

About 12 minutes.

Are they kidding me!  I was greeted by a friendly, competent, seemingly intelligent number assigner who went over my documents and then assigned me a number that was just two away from the number currently being served.  I'd barely sat down in the waiting area when my number was called and yet another competent intelligent person efficiently handled my registration and said I was done.  They call themselves a DMV??

In other strange things, Magnum and I watched All Good Things.  It's a movie based on real people and unsolved mystery.  It gets creepy, but is intriguing.  I thought the actors all did nice jobs with their roles.  And it's not all creepy.  The scene where Ryan Gosling's character proposes to Kirsten Dunst's?  I think I may have quietly audiblized my "Yes, O God YES!".

Lastly, I thought I should give a shout to my 2nd running shoes.  I've already praised The Shooz, which are still my faves, but I always keep two pairs of different brands for rotating.

Wolfgang turned me onto these after getting a pair last summer.  They're not quite as minimal as my others, but they're comfy and seemingly indestructible.  I've gone over 300 miles in them and they seem as comfy and cushy as fresh out of the box.  Wolfgang finally got a second pair after running about a gazillion miles in the first.  So, a shout out to the Energize Bunny of shoes.

Enjoy your weeks!  Send snow!

What is your DMV thinking? How are all the other DMVs going to continue getting away with their lackluster customer service if yours is setting the bar so high?

Like the new shooz! And thanks for the recommendation. I bought some of the minimalist ones recently... then started feeling a tweak in my knee. It can't be age. Must be the shoes, I decided. It will be good to have something in mind as an option if and when I decide to try for new ones again.

Oh no!! Aliens disguised as competent people are taking over the DMV!! Come on!! What better explanation is there?? And seriously, if aliens were going to take over secretly right beneath our noses, what better place than the DMV??

You can't deny the logic.

I have 2 DMVs from which to choose. One is about 3mi away in town, the other is 11mi away in the next town over. It is so worth the extra trip, even with as many trips as I make each year.
Replaced my well-worn Brooks runners -- and I mean they were FLAT -- but new ones were too small (went in, knew exactly what I wanted, didn't try on, get home -- DOH!). BUT through your linky provided, I can order the right size with free shipping. Yay!

From some of the stories you've told, sounds like you deserve a nice DMV experience.
I love the look of your new shoes, and the reviews on them great! I may look into them after my big run. I'm afraid to change too much before hand.
Mind if I send freezing rain instead? That's all I got to give....

Age? Of course it's not age. What's this age you keep referring to? Age, ha! Change the subject...

Omigosh, it's so clear now!

Well... there ya go. Run happy!

That DMV was so nice, I actually wanted to hang around longer! I guess beggars can't be choosers, but freezing rain? Really, that's it? And on the shoes, you know you can always pin them :)

I wish my experiences at the DMV turned out as nicely as yours did :s...

Also, I'm surprised at how fast this month went by! Yowzers!

12 minutes at the DMV? That just doesn't seem right. What's next? No lines at the post office?

Those look like sweet shoes. Not sure I could use them, though. From the link, it looks like those might not work on my high arches.

Yes, I have noticed the days are getting longer. HOORAY for more day light!

You only spent 12 minutes inside the DMV? Holy crap. * faints*

I saw All Good Things and I very much enjoyed that movie.

LOVE THE SHOES!!!! And they're my favorite color!

My list trip to the DMV was friendly and competent too. Strange things are in the air! Love your Buzz Lightyear :)

I clicked over and saw $59 on the shoes. I've been shopping in the wrong places. Can't seem to get out of the store without forking over $90. I need running shoes now; thanks for the reminder. (I'll just add it to my list of things to do. Love that shopping.)
