school daze

With all of this end-of-school year stuff going on, many memories are bubbling up from childhood.  Magnum and I were out walking the other night, walking down memory lane apparently.  We started talking about our various teachers from when we were young -uns.

I always liked school as a kid.  I really didn't have any teachers I disliked or who made me hate school or a certain subject.  Some were better than others, of course, but for the most part, my 13 years in the public school system were all pretty positive.  I can remember all of my teachers from each grade and subject.

All of them except for third grade.

And what is up with that?  I really have no memories from 3rd grade.  I don't know who my teacher was, I don't remember who I hung out with (I'm assuming pretty much the same kids from 2nd and 4th grade?).  For most of it, I was 9 years old.  WTH?  I went to the same school as for grades Kindergarten through 4th... at least I THINK I did.

not my 3rd grade... or is it???

On second thought, maybe I was abducted by aliens and the experience was wiped from my memory before I was returned to earth.  Or maybe I was seriously mamed in some sort of industrial accident, and now I'm a cyborg, but no one ever told me.

Do you remember all of the teachers you had during your formative years?  Were you a victim of an alien abduction?

I have pretty distinct memories of my grade school years, ESPECIALLY third grade. The Vietnamese kids came to our school that year and I was fascinated by the way they looked and how they talked. My best friend that year was a Vietnamese girl. We barely understood each other, but we were inseparable.

Thanks for bringing back MY memories, anyway!

Yup - Mrs. Beal for kindergarten and first, Mrs. Powell for second, Mrs. Ickert for third, Mrs. Jacobson for fourth, and Mrs. Durrett for fifth. And, my first year of teaching? Mrs. Powell was the ESL teacher on that campus! FUN!

Lol xD I don't remember much of my grade school years either...I just know I got bullied like all hell, maybe that's why I decided to just forget about it.

I grew up in a middle class white neighborhood and my family was one of the only ethnic family in the neighborhood. I got picked on a lot, i'm assuming it was because I was so different (My father is African and mother is South East Asian). I don't have too many fond memories of my early childhood, maybe it's for the best :s

Actually, it is more sinister than that. You were kidnapped by a secret government agency and your mind was wiped and those childhood memories were implanted to cover up your mysterious past. You are probably one of those deep cover ninja assassin who is waiting for that code word to activate and go all Jackie Chan on someone.

Not sure why, but I don't recall many of my teachers from my elementary school days, but I do recall my kindergarten teacher. Maybe it was all those drugs I did back in the 60s...

I have very little memories of my childhood. I think I've blocked some of them out because I didn't exactly have a happy childhood, but I think the biggest reason is that I moved every 2 years growing up. I often wonder if I went back to my childhood neighborhoods if it would spark some memories, or if I talked with some of my old friends. Of course, I would have to remember them first.
I do remember my favorite teachers, though. My fourth grade teacher, especially, was a big influence in my life.
Funny that you can't remember one grade. You need to do some digging to find out why not! What if Agg's right??
