coronation

I said I was slacking on the blog because of school?  Today I felt like slacking on school to hang out at the blog.  Actually, I was just reading a few and thought I'd check in over here.

Pedal Perks just finished another month and I managed to get my name in lights again.  Really, that's the only reason I participate...  all that recording of rides blah, blah, blah.  But anyways, here's my latest perk.  FedEx guy just dropped it off.  My new crown.

Oblique shot with visor, still with toadz

It's a Bern bike helmet to replace the old Giro I had.  I was just thinking last week after I'd put my order in for this one, that my old helmet was old old, but thankfully had never taken a hit.  I was thinking this as I was pedaling under an overpass when a rock jumped down from the overpass and smacked me upside the helmet.  I think that's the first time that's ever happened, like the helmet gods were reminding me of their importance!

Anyway, I hope Bernie and I enjoy many a ride together, and she never has to go to work except for maybe some occasional debris from overpasses.

The promo stuff says it's "designed to be women specific".  I have NO idea what that means.

Speaking of the toadz, there's been no sign of Reese the snake since that fateful day he left us back in May.  As I recall, it was the week of Memorial Day, so it's been some time ago now.  Considering his chief skill on his resume' is hiding, we doubt we will ever see  him again.

Unless we get another snake.

That's how it usually seems to go.  Lose something, and  once we give up hope and get a replacement *POOF* there's the thing we lost.  But truth is, I miss him.  It was fun creating his habitat - or at least watching Meego do it.  The whole thing was quite educational - including his escape.  I will say that I don't miss the dead mice in the freezer however...

A Sunday AND Monday post? Lucky us!
You have to be the perkiest of all the pedalers out there. Seriously, you've "earned" so much stuff! And it's cool stuff too! (Bernie looks good on you, btw)
So has there been talk about another snake?

It's so sad when a teenager dies. My sympathies to everyone in Sean's life.

On the lighter tone, you should definitely paint a crown on that helmet!

To clarify, I'm not the only perky weiner. It's a generous program for those willing to do the paperwork :)
As far as another snake goes - not anytime soon, but we do have this nice snake apartment and all...

Now that you mention it, that helmet does resemble a blank canvas!

Thanks for the condolences for Sean. It's very sad.

Helmets are vital, IMO. The vast majority of cycling deaths would be prevented by a helmet.

Yes, this is a nice perk. It's hard to believe how we rode around with naked heads as kids. It just doesn't feel right now.

Hmmm yea what is this woman specific thing? That's a bit weird ha ha. Looks like it fits well though which is very important.

So, I guess this helmet is designed to fit a woman's more petite and delicate skull? Regardless, it looks like a very nice helmet. Seems like Pedal Perks is a worthwhile endeavor!

Sorry to hear that Reese has still not returned. Hopefully the toadz provide some consolation.

I had no idea. And all these years, I've been wearing non-women specific headwear!

Petite and delicate and encasing a superior brain?? Nah.

We think Reese is but a memory now, but yes, the toadz are quite consoling.

That helmet needs a couple tattoos... though the straps are a nice hue.

Hey, that rhymes!
I actually hadn't noticed how "blank" this helmet was until these webcam shots. I might have to break out the sharpies or be content to look like a big chicken egg.

Yeah...dead mice in the freezer wouldn't be on my top list of things I want in there either.

Or anywhere else, for that matter.

Ha Ha!
I seem to recall someone in my childhood days being call Egg Head.
