Silver Liningness Sunday

Greetings, earthlings!  Sunday once again.

For starters, our fine city did manage to set an all new record for precipitation in May.  The backyard's a swamp and we've still got today to top it off some more!  Woot!  Yay, we worked hard for that.  Whatever...

In other top measurements, we are apparently not very fat, relatively speaking.  According to the latest gallup poll anyways, Colorado Springs is the least obese city in the U.S.  Looking around, though, that kinda feels like being the tallest pygmy.

Enough of the record books, though.  This was another fine week.  My summer class began and, so far, I like it.  It's only been one week, however.  It's a  marketing class, so most of my classmates are MBA students with one other from my engineering program.  They seem like a good bunch, and I like the professor.  So far.

Remember that our  next door neighbors were selling their house?  They sold it within a day or two, and the deal included them staying there until the end of the school year.  School year ended on Friday.  They moved out in the morning, and new neighbors were there in the evening.  POOF.  I haven't met the new family yet.  Fingers crossed.

Also with that, Meego is finished being a stupid Freshman.  He's still considering his summer activities.  He might go volunteer biblin' again at the down-the-street VBS, Wolfgang's going to see if there's grunt work for him at EduKit, and there are various band practices/activities over summer.  Speaking of which, the band runs a concession stand at the local baseball field for our minor league team, the Sky Sox.  I'm signed up to work 5 games, Meego will work 4.  It cuts down on band fees, so my first duty is this coming week.  Come get a  hot dog!

And alas, King Reese the snake remains ruler of an unknown realm.  No one has seen hide nor scale of him yet.  The cat does seem more interested than usual in the various boxes we have Tetrissed along the walls, so maybe that's something.

Was the King's abode inside or outside of the house? I guess if it was inside, YOU'D be moving too. Maybe he read my blog late one night and he's in the mood for a toad buffet. If we see him, we'll let you know.

Actually, the snake house is inside and it's palpably empty now. He's probably read your blog over my shoulder and is trying to get to your garden!

I am not surprised to hear that Reese is still MIA. I figured he would be hard to corral once he tasted the freedom. I'm sure he'll turn up eventually. Maybe in one of those boxes or perhaps he has learned to climb those stairs.

Kudos on being the least obese. I may be jaded, but isn't that kinda like being labeled the least stupid or least ugl? Props for being in a healthy city, but ya'll need a few more Dunkin Donuts and Krispy Kremes up there to level the playing field.

I read about the Springs being most fit. I think perhaps the various military bases and personnel skew the numbers a bit. Not to diminish the fitness levels of those unaffiliated with the military or anything.

We shuffled all the boxes. He was probably watching and laughing. I don't *think* he can take the stairs!
And yeah, "least obese!" doesn't feel like something to shout from the rooftops.

You betcha. And we mustn't forget the Olympic training center. Those two factors certainly help stuff the ballot box :)
BTW, I like when people dig for the reasoning behind statistics. Gold star for you!

Here I thought Coloradoans were all very fit. Now I'm finding you're just the least obese. *sigh* very sad.
Sad too, that Reese is still MIA. Well, maybe not sad for him - yet. Is Napoleon looking any fatter?
And kudos to you for working the concession stand! With our fourth kid in band now, we are done with all that. The younger parents can have all the fun. In fact, in a recent survey about fund raisers, we voted to just write a big ol' check and skip all the hassle. I doubt it'll fly.

Don't have to be fit, just have to be less obese than the next person. It's all relative.
Still no sign of Reese, Napolion's not talking.
On one hand, I think SkySox duty will be fun, on another I think I might just do it this one summer!

Hey! Stop puttin' pictures of my exercise classes on the internet!

Seriously though. Congrats(?) on the record rainfall. On with summer!

I'm sure Meego will make it an adventurous summer, no matter what variety of activities he ends up committing to. And if it ends up being a slow-starting summer, maybe he can go exploring through the boxes for Reese!

There might be a trail of Reese's, um, "pieces" that could lead you to the, um, "source" (if ya know what I mean....).

I hope he's enjoying his freedom, yet still looking forward to coming home.

Reese's pieces... yup.

I'm betting Reese is in one of the many boxes. Unpacking could be an adventure!

I'm betting on the boxes. Lots to explore!
