going viral

I spent the weekend coming down with the flu.  All the reports are true, it is awful.  I've spent the last couple of days crawling out of that hole, and am starting to feel almost human again.

Really, I think I spent about 96.776% of Monday inside a sleeping bag.  It was my only comfort.  I don't even think I actually slept, it was more a combo of weird hallucinations interspersed with annoying segments of full awakedness. I mainly remember my dad and Meego hogging Potato the computer from each other and battling it out...

But it does seem to be exiting as quickly as it entered, which is consolation, so I didn't get too far behind in anything.  The cat's paw seems to also be on the mend, but between the two of us, this has felt like The Great Home of the Infirm.

Meego had a concert tonight, so I was glad to be back healthy for that.  Although I would've enjoyed listening to the other groups, we only stayed for his portion because he had to come back to work on an English project.  Damn that Shakespeare.

Yesterday, when we went out for said project supplies (you know those kinds where your kid is all, "I need to get this stuff for a school project", and you go, "Okay, when?", and he's all, "today") it turned into a bigger shopping trip because yesterday was also the first I'd heard of tonight's concert.  *sigh*

But luckily, he did happen to mention it while we were out, because I had in the back of my mind that Meego needed new band shoes, so we got those too.  Things turned strange, however, when he asked if we could also get some jeans.

Jeans?

He hasn't worn jeans since about 3rd grade when he declared his body off limits to denim.

But wait, he wasn't finished!  We got home with the Shakespeare, shoes, and chaps (it's the only alliteration I could think of to include the jeans...) where he had yet another request:  a haircut!

I'm starting to wonder if maybe I'm still flu-lucinating inside my sleeping bag.

Jeans and a haircut? It's definitely the flu. I've been sick for the past week as well. Between that and my neck, I felt like something that the cat hocked up. Sending mega juju for you to get well soon!

Ah, the flu. Hard to describe other than to say just yucky. I brought it home with me from AZ, leaving granddaughter there with the flu (she shared it with me) and she and I compared our symptoms over the next two weeks. Now that I have experienced it, I don't want a visit from the flu bug for a long time. I admire your energy level even when you were recovering from flu and taking care of child needs. Oh yes, now I remember, that is how it is when still raising kids. Good for you. Hope you are totally over the bad stuff and on to the good stuff.

Oh no! You got the crud? I had it two years ago, and it is NOT fun. Glad it didn't last long!
My boys were always last minute shoppers, and it drove me crazy. But I gotta give kudos to Meego for thinking about his band concert while he was out shopping for Shakespeare.
Amp, like Meego, has not worn jeans for years. I can't imagine he'll ask for them any time soon. However, he has requested a haircut twice this school year without being coerced by the school or us. Maybe jeans are in his near future too? What is happening?!

Thanks for the juju, I think it's working! Shouldn't you get that neck checked by now??

At least this means we're immune for the rest of the year, right??
I spend one day in a sleeping bag, and it's like Meego wanted to get his full Mom's worth in an afternoon.

I don't understand it either! He hasn't actually worn the jeans yet since the long pants don't go on unless the thermometer dips below 25 or so. It's just as well since short hair + jeans would be too much for me at once.

Good God! You certainly deserve a break, between the bee stings, McRibs, flu...ack.

Methinks he likes a girl who likes jeans and short hair. Just a thought.

I think I need a respite too! (didn't want to say "break" 'cause who knows what might happen?!)

I did ask the girl question... just not out loud.

Ugh! So sorry to hear you caught the flu. I guess I'll stop complaining that the crud continues to follow me around (all the way to Florida and back again.) At least I didn't get the McRibs or the actual flu. Glad you're feeling better again.

Those boys! They're not good about giving us moms any kind of advance warning, are they? At least you were notified with just enough time to make sure Meego had what he needed for the concert and his project. And jeans and a haircut? Your little boy must be growing up!

The crud followed you to Florida and back?! How rude!
