Silver Liningness Sunday

Magnum is watching the Bronco game. I think most people in my neck of the woods are just happy to NOT be watching last year's Superbowl.

This was a good, but short week because of Monday's holiday.  I felt like I was playing catch-up all week, but I'm happy to say I'm, for the most part, caught up.

My dad had a health scare yesterday.  I thought for a while that it could be "the big one", but he's improved.  I will say that his and my mom's days on this earth are not long, and I just want them to be comfortable and relatively happy.  And that's all I care to say about that...

ANYWAY, in other silver liningness, I worked on getting our house back to my minimalistic ways since Chaco and Wolfgang took their stuff back to their dorms.  One major hurdle was getting this giganto TV out of our rec room.  It's about a 36" old style box that weighs a bunch of pounds.

Chaco and Wolfgang were home for a bit over last weekend, so we took advantage and had them help get it out of the basement.  It now sits in the garage while we try to figure out how to get rid of it.  I will gladly give it away to anyone who wants it.  Know anyone??

I'm also happy to say that I've gone four straight days now without being stung by a bee.  I definitely hope the streak lasts!  I'm starting to feel a bit better, not quite 100%, but just about a quart low.  I don't know what it is about the bee juice that has such an affect on me.

My hand is still not quite recognizable as one that belongs on the end of my arm.  I'm a rather "veiny" person - side note:  I once had a phlebotomist roll up my sleeve and exclaim, "Oh, it's like Christmas!".   There are currently no visible veins on the alien fat right hand.

But it has improved, I can hold stuff now.  The neck sting has mellowed to where it now just resembles a tentative hickey.  But I'm still dealing with the itchies, so waaah.

My horoscope today said something about my friends sticking by me despite my shortcomings in the upcoming week.  So... might want to prepare...

Glad the stings have stopped - I hate stings!

Ah, aren't those big old TVs fun to move? They will always remind me of my dad, who would decide he wanted to watch TV and buy a huge monster TV from a neighbour. I would carry it up to his bedroom and set everything up. A couple of months later he would say he hated watching TV and I would remove the offending item. A couple of months later... rinse and repeat.

I hope they don't mean the bees, when referring to your friends sticking by!

Ha! Well, I guess it's a good thing that TVs have gotten much lighter, so you won't do the same to your kids.

Oh, man! I'd better check the star charts!

I'm so impressed you were able to find some silver linings this week after TWO bee stings in TWO days. And with all that itching, how can you think of anything else? (I'm not helping, am I....)
Anyway, I've got a couple of box TVs myself, that we've been hauling around from house to house... so no, I don't want yours. But our Boy Scouts will take it if you pay 'em 5 bucks. And deliver it to them, of course.
And you don't need any more "friends" sticking you...

You had me at "Boy Scouts will take", but lost me at "deliver it to them". Still, I'm keeping that in my back pocket!

I was stung a couple of times by bees - there's a hive near where I go - and for the first time in my life the things pursued and attacked me. I was amazed. They got tangled in my hair. I think I am more allergic than I used to be. It was days before the swelling went down. I hope you're completely better soon.

Since we're telling bee sting stories......I was assembling one of those wooden playhouse swing things in our backyard years ago. It was hot & humid; I was shirtless. A big, black mud wasp came out from behind the sun, rolled into my six o'clock like a heat seeking missile and BAM!, right above the kidney. Watched the entire encounter as if it were slow motion......

Oh, and there's only thing worse than a bee in your car: A bee in your helmet. (damhik)

Tangled in your hair?? What a nightmare!

Like a scene out of Top Gun...

It's funny. Walk around with a fat hand, and all the bee stories come out.

Sorry to hear about the scare with your dad. I know how scary that is. I'll say a little prayer for him.

The photo of your hand looks so familiar! Not the bee-stung one, but the veiny one. Realized why it looks familiar. Your veiny hands look like mine.

Our Best Buy store takes all of our electronics for recycling. Do you have a Best Buy? That's if you're still stuck with the TV, of course.

How were you able to ride Bella with your hand all puffed up like that? Btw, I think I'm mixing up the names of your bike children, so correct me if I'm wrong.

Peace to your parents.
