Silver Liningness Sunday

I wrote a paper for school earlier today, and I guess my brain registered it as my silver liningness post for today.  Be thankful it wasn't, you'da been bored to tears!  AND I've managed to do a brain override and get my silver liningness post in afterall.

Meego had the day off on Monday for President's Day.  He celebrated by puncturing his hand with a piece of fence post.

The way I understand it, he was playing tag with the other street urchins when he went to scale a fence a la parkour?  But i guess there was a big old piece of wood sticking out of the thing he grabbed, and the big old piece of wood went into his hand.

He came inside to wash it off and showed me where it went in.  Then he turned his hand over and showed me where it went out the other side.  Eew!

Really not that bad though.  I patched him up, and he was sort of the one-handed boy for a couple of days, but none the worse for wear after that.  In fact, I was going to post gory pics here, but it's just not gory enough anymore to make an impact.

And Magnum took the opportunity to remind me that I am way overdue for a tetanus shot.

I still am, by the way.

Also this week, we had an appointment with the Heavenly Orthodontist.  It's time for the braces to commence bracing.  They gave him this for motivation.

So now he's totally thrilled.  Not.

But enough about Meego, this is MY blog!

School continues, I'm enjoying my classes and classmates, and I haven't been kicked out yet.  Also, this was another P.E.O. week and I'm grateful to have found a good group of sistahs.  All these weeks floating along as the beloved newbie guest are soon to be a thing of the past, though, as I sense they are about to put me to work.

In movie news, Magnum and I watched Let the Right One In.  It's creepy.  I think it was well-done for what the producers set out to do, and there were things about it that I liked.  But I was kinda creeped out afterwards and so have mixed reviews.

But go ahead and [click this link] and watch the trailer!  I DARE YOU!!

Well I'm impressed that you're managing your duties as a student AND still blogging.

You sound awfully calm about Meego's stab wound. I get freaked out by stuff like that. Glad to hear he's doing fine.

I'm way overdue for a tetanus shot too. Years overdue. This will probably continue.

I'm gonna pass on the movie trailer. I don't do creepy movies! :-)

Looooove creepy movies! I feel as though there was an American remake of this (or I could be totally making that up). And I feel as though I saw it. Or maybe I saw this one?

It's nearly impossible to understand why that jaunty "Happy Braces" literature didn't work. HAHHAHAHA. I had braces (back when they were ginormous, dark-gray wrap-around-the-whole-tooth affairs (and, yes, this was part of my 7th-grade hell). They sucked. Good luck to Meego. Kids can at least do fun colors these days.

Entry AND exit wound?! How many guys can claim THAT Badge of Honor (if you're into that kinda badge.....). Extra credit for taking pics.

And I don't mind being creeped out every now and again, but must say the trailer didn't say "must see" to me....

OMG! * shudder*

As for creepy/scary movies - I am way too chicken to watch them!

And I'm thrilled to hear school is still going so well for you!

Since there was no meat visibly hanging from either wound entrance or exit site, it wasn't all that stomach churning as it should've been. Maybe I've been watching too much Walking Dead?

Oh, there's another of this movie? I typically find the foreign ones better when there's also an American version. Maybe because having to read makes me pay more attention?
I managed to dodge the braces of 7th grade hell. My husband had them, though. I blame him for Meego's plight.

I knew I shoulda taken fresh pics. Whod've thought it would heal up so nicely?

The movie was an odd mix of creepy and touching. Maybe that's why I can't decide if I liked it.

I watched "Dredd" last weekend, and this one was also on Magnum's recommendation. I liked them both okay, but I think I've earned a chick flick!

At least you didn't have to pull the stick OUT. That would have sent me over the edge.
So you finally settled down with a PEO... congratulations! Enjoy the honeymoon while it lasts!
And I'm passing on the creepy video too. I'll watch a shoot-em-up movie occasionally to earn the chick flick. Too much blood and guts though is, well, too much.
We watched Bernie last night. I liked it and even felt for the guy. Have you seen it?

Abby said...

Oh yah! We watched Bernie about a year ago. I liked it - really different role for Jack Black! And the fact that it was a true story - I felt for the guy too.

I'm glad I didn't have to pull the stick out either :P

Ah yes, valuable lessons taken from The Walking Dead can really help out in a pinch. Nothing says love like some emergency mom care. What's a little gore among family? Sounds like Meego wasn't too badly off if you were able to fix him up. Another battle scar to remember the day. Someday I'll have to tell you the story where I cut the tip of my finger off.

You have a knack for picking some strange movies, but that one is really out there. I'm like SR300 - more action/shoot 'em up. Have you ever watched a movie called Blood Simple?

OW OW OW OW. No doctor? No ER? I guess I am just a big wimp, but having something poke through me on both sides would call for a medical man (or woman.)

I keep seeing PEO license plate frames here all of a sudden and it reminded me of you!

He was quite calm about the whole thing, just washing it off and studying the path of destruction. So it seemed like the right mood. Maybe he's been watching too much Walking Dead too. And yes, DO tell your finger(less) story!
Never heard of Blood Simple, but it looks good!

I've taken some first aid courses and was pretty sure he didn't have any vital organs in his hand, so we wrapped it up in an oily rag and called it good. Or something like that.
There are PEO license plate frames?

Nothing like a dare. The content...hmmm... I haven't seen anything like that in awhile! I'd probably be laughing throughout.

Accomplishments at school, a boy-kid "episode" (instead of a pet episode), a weird movie... Sounds like a typical/normal week in Abbydom. Hope this one is going well... minus the injury.

I would not have liked to deal with the hand injury, and I kinda glad there are no photos! I know I'm a wimp.

Oh the Brace years. Both my daughters had them and my youngest had hers removed about 6 months ago. I'm not sure which one of us cheered the most!
