dispatch from Christmas Camp

Dear Friends and internet lurkers,

If you're reading this, it means that we've succumbed to the elements, wild animals, and/or failed at cannibalism...

APRIL  FOOLS!!

Oop, I mean... MERRY  CHRISTMAS!!!

Christmas Camp 2013 was a success!  The tent was cozy warm!

...until it wasn't.  The cute little stove really poured out the heat, and my feet would wake me up whenever it needed more fuel.  How convenient, right?

And then it would be cozy warm again! ...until it wasn't.

And it certainly helped that Napolion was there to keep us all relaxed

So Merry Christmas to all my blog friends!  Warmth and love and warmth to you all!!

Hugs and Kisses,
Abby

What have all those boys done to you?! Although, I think I see some pink shoes in one of the pics. Still...

Okay, I accept the craziness of your family. It looks like fun. I can't see the numbers on the thermometer, but I'll bet it's COLD.

Merry Christmas and Hugs back to you. :)

You made it! This was a test run, right? I don't know if I could have stayed if it got really cold. I can only be in the really cold short periods at a time. You are braver than I am. You could have a party in that tent, it is HUGE. Like an emergency house.

Hooray for surviving the elements and not resorting to cannibalism. Despite what you'd think, it's not all it's cracked up to be.

Must add: We also have a gray cat (a bit more, er, robust -- NOT FAT, DAMMIT -- than yours) named Napoleon. We call him Capt. Nap for short.

Yeah, it was cool! Figuratively AND literally :D

That's exactly what the thermometer reads - "COLD", but it was strangely fun. And yes, I had my hot pink shoes along. I also wore my bra all night because I didn't want to remove the layers necessary to take it off. So the bra and pink shoes = my feminine contribution to the evening.

Cool! Our Napoleon got booted from his last house for fighting so we happily took him in. He's still pretty scrappy, we'll see if he goes into a "robust" retirement from the ring.

Yes, this was our first test and we learned a few lessons, mainly about regulating the stove. And we could've easily fit three or four more people - and their cat - in there with us! Party on!

Failed at cannibalism! Ha! Did the cat eat you all? :)

Abby said...

No, he just thought we were all weird.

Last blog post, I was thinking that the tent event sounded like fun. Now maybe not so much? Glad you survived it!

Abby said...

Oh, it WAS fun, but strangely... no one was up for a twofer on Christmas night.

I admire your dedication! The heater does look good, but even so it must have got very very cold....

That first pic reminded me of a Russian dude (sorry!) I flew through Iceland with a coupla months ago. Seriously, same hat. And the shot perspective emphasizes his size; he was a big Russian, but a pussycat. Siberia, here we come! Bring firewood!

Congrats on surviving the night! Sounds like everyone earned their Christmas presents. So what'dya get?
And did China have to spend the night by herself?

Abby said...

It was a fun night. That little stove heats really well, just not forever!

Abby said...

"Does this hat/angle make me look like a big Russian dude?" Don't answer!!

Abby said...

Yes! Presents for survivors only! China was not at all interested in joining us...

You guys are crazy...in a good way ;) Your cat seems to have found the experience exciting, too. Happy New Year, Abby and family!
