going hairless

Magnum, Meego, and I took a little day trip today.  Shoved off in the morning and stopped off along to way to load everyone up with a cholesterol-gluten combo platter and a healthy side of caffeine.  Then we were ready for some serious Reptilin'!

Denver ReptiCon weekend!

My goal was to not bring anything home, and I barely met it.  This lovely Sand Boa was giving me serious Take-Me-Home eyes.  It was so friendly, and smooth, and light, and.... NO!

A lot of pretty pythons and cute geckos and other assorted scaly things.  Nice show.

King Reese's "Dad" was there, with another good batch of King Snakes.  We bought Reese from him at the Reptile Expo a year ago in August.  We chatted with him about Reese's habits since he's recently gone into a brunation - a sort of semi-hibernation that reptiles do.  He tells us that means that Reese is a good breeder.

Maybe we should get him a wife?

NO!

Brunation is totally a $10 word. Seriously, I have never heard about that before. So if Mr. RK sleeps more that is a good sign? ;)

Brunation is linked to good breeding. Well, that certainly explains some things....
Probably a good idea that you didn't get Reese a wife. "FREE: cute baby snakes" may not go over so well.

This morning, I learned the word is actually bruMation. "Mate" being the root word? And yeah, I guess we let sleeping men lie...

Yeah, seems like males in general sleep lots in their "peak" breeding years...
And no, we don't need the slither-slither of little scales.

OMG - girl - I love you - but I am TERRIFIED of all things reptile - especially snakes - so I was not able to read this post! One look at those photos and I ran screaming!

Oh sorry! I'm fine with the reptiles, but can't understand why anyone would pay good money to keep a scorpion or tarantula for a pet!

What a fun family outing! I must gather my husband and 3 daughters and do the same. And we must, must let the snakes wrap themselves around our arms for a frame worthy photo.

Glad you had fun. :)

Btw, how long is Reese expected to "be around?"

You actually make reptiles seem kind of CUTE! Meego is clearly very comfortable with the lot of them. Looks like a good time and good for you for resisting the temptation to bring anything home.

Boy, you really have a thing for those reptiles. That green one really looks like he has a thing for you. I can see another one somehow winding up in the Abby menagerie. Perhaps a new lady friend for King Reese? I'm sure he would appreciate the action.
