Silver Liningness Sunday

"Why is Ju-lie wear-ing white?
She's not a vir-gin..."

Those are the words a friend of mine spontaneously made up at his sister's high school graduation, sung to the tune of "Pomp and Circumstance".

That was over 30 years ago, yet every time I hear the song, those words play in my mind over and over.  Such was the case again at Wolfgang's graduation.  My apologies to any graduates named Julie, virgin or not.  (Go ahead, sing a few bars.  I bet it'll be in your head forever too)

Yes, as mentioned earlier this week, Wolfgang graduated high school.  It was a nice enough ceremony - not too pompous under the circumstances  *cough*cough*.  Now, we never expected him to NOT graduate high school, but we're proud of him nonetheless.

His brothers were thrilled to be in attendance...

And I know that he's glad to be finished with high school and is looking forward to getting going at college next year.  Did I mention that he and I might be in a class together?  How weird will THAT be?!

It was a busy week with all the end-of-schoolyear activities going on.  But now that all the hoopla is finished, all that busyness seems a long time ago.  I'm slowly making progress and getting the house out of threat of condemnation.

And the weather has finally turned B-e-a-utiful!  Mornings are lovely for running, the grass is growing, birds are chirping.

The job boards and my e-mail at the tutor matching site have been lighting up with activity with inquiries for summer tutoring.  I'm having to turn jobs away.  I remember the early days when I was brand new and willing to tutor anyone who asked.  It's nice to be able to be picky.

On that note, we're getting some summer fun plans organized around everyone's work and play schedules.  We don't have any major trips planned for this summer, but we won't be total homebodies either.  I did get the van all prepped for duty.  Another hubcap fell off!  We're almost at full pedophile van mode!

Happy summer, everyone!  Feel free to wear white, no matter what your status!

You're funny! Thanks for ensuring that Pomp and Circumstance will forever hereafter be the "Not a Virgin" song inside my head.

Congratulations to Wolfgang. Of course you never had a doubt that he would graduate. But I hear of kids every year who don't quite make it. Make's me realize that for some, it is a major accomplishment . So kudos are in order! :-)

Glad to hear you're getting some summer plans in order. We're trying to do that here too. It's amazing how difficult it is to coordinate just a few days among people who have job and school scheudules!

Congrats once again to Wolfgang! You two might share a class??? I'm quite sure mine would change majors to avoid a class with me. :)
I'm happy you shared the lyrics to Pomp and Circumstance. Amp will graduate in a few years (fingers crossed), and the ceremonies there are SO. LONG. and quite pompous, with much of the focus on the Bishop and not the graduates... so singing lyrics about a catholic graduate not being a virgin should spice things up a little.

Glad to hear your summer plans. I think that would be so cool to be in your son's class.

We had one odd-ball week here of sunshine and high temps, but the past two weeks have been thunderstorms and plenty of rain.

Congratulations to your sons! I'm intermittantly having orthodontics flashbacks and giggling at Pomp and Cirmcumstance. You know, there just aren't too many people who can do that kind of thing to me! LOL Have a great week!

Yes, I tried singing the song...in my head though, lest the family wake up and think I'm losing it. (It's 4:12 am - what's up with that,I ask my usually good sleep cycle)

Yes, the boys do look thrilled. :)

Congratulations to Wolfgang as he enters the next phase! And to you too!

It's funny how things like that stay in our heads. I still remember the moment. Julie trying on her very white graduation gown, my friend singing the "lyrics". His mom in the next room, chastising him while laughing...

Congrats to both Wolfgang and his hard working parents. A great accomplishment to achieve and it can only lead to bigger and better things. And you and Magnum deserve a lot of credit in supporting his endeavors over the years to get him to this point. Take a bow!

And thanks for a NEW earworm. Now that version is going to be stuck in my head for years. I won't even share with you the little Christmas ditty I got from the scouts that's been with me for years (to the tune of Winter Wonderland).
