Silver Liningness Sunday

I'm thankful for and looking forward to the light Thanksgiving week.  Magnum and the kids have the week off.  I've got a light tutoring schedule, and the crosswalk is on it's own.  Wolfgang is pet sitting for another fat cat, so we won't be flying off to exotic locales, but it's nice to have time off.

This week included a lot of running around to appointments it seemed.  I mentioned Meego's visits to the posh orthodontist, and it's nice to get the ball rolling on his dental transformation.  Also, China got the stitches removed from her ear, and it looks so much better now than with that big old juicy lump.

And speaking of fat cats and pets, we've started letting Kat outside.  We're pretty sure she knows this as "home" now, and she's been longing to go outside for a while.  We do have a lot of predators in the area though - coyotes and foxes mostly - that have taken out a few neighborhood cats.  Our backyard is pretty safe, however.  We have a fence that typical cats can manage, but we're pretty sure Kat's too fat... so that can be a good thing.  When we want her to come inside, we just bang the food can with a spoon.

too sexy

In movie news, Magnum and I watched Bernie yesterday.  I'd never even heard of this movie, but we both liked it.  It's based on a true story about a funeral director, an elderly widow, and a murder!  Jack Black stars in the title role.  I like Jack Black (he's more than welcome to join us for Thanksgiving), and I thought this role was different from his usual stuff.  Nice job.

I'm looking forward to the short week, too. It's a good time to relax and take a deep breath before the holiday craze kicks in.

Glad to hear that China is healing from her surgery. Hope that Kat enjoys the outdoors safely!

"We just bang the food can with a spoon..." too funny! Poor Kat. At least you can be assured she won't get far.
I'm sorry I have to back out on my Thanksgiving Potluck invitation. (Especially sorry now that I hear you have invited Jack Black.) But since Christmas is more important for me to have off, I will be working Thanksgiving. Please tell everyone 'hi' from me.
Good news about China! Just in time for family pics too!

Kat looks so much like my old fat cat, Kiko. I miss him!

Enjoy your quiet week to the fullest...or the quietest, come to think of it!

Our cats always came running when you started the electric can opener Ha Ha

Thanksgiving will be here really quickly, it's good to have a few days off.

I know others who like to keep their cats fat and lazy so they stay close to home and out of harm. I think that is one of the most heart-breaking things about cats, although the biggest threat in my area is cars rather than predators.

Have a great week!

Your "zoom" piece is perfect for you. I figure I should lose some calories just by reading about your running :) When I was a substitute teacher, I asked the special ed teacher about what to do for dyslexia since it runs heavily in my family. He said "teach better". No secret wands to wave according to him. My personal solution is to speed read so I don't get hung up on individual words, but that doesn't work for some other people I know. The other thing I have to do sometimes is cover up extra lines or letters so I can absorb things in the proper order. Maybe one of those tricks can help your highschooler?

Thanks Linda, that's good to know! I've been reading up on dyslexia, but it's always helpful to learn from first hand.

I am very much looking forward to Thanksgiving and time with my family. Also, that movie Bernie sounds good. I might have to check it out.

Kat's too fat--sounds like a movie title!

That's good that she probably can't climb the fence though--with the threat of predators.
