Jump

A grasshopper can jump 20 times its length.  If I could do that, I could jump over 100 feet.  I can't do that.

This week's Illustration Friday prompt is "Jump", so I dedicate it to the long jump champion grasshopper.   I think I'll name him Sarge.

I love the color choices. Is that something you think long and hard about? Or is it more that when you decide to draw a grasshopper, the picture and colors just appear in your mind? I am obviously not creative and artistic, so I'm not sure how such a mind works.... I woulda drawn a stick grasshopper and made people guess. lol :)

Sarge is a good looking grasshopper. Love the ridges of his thorax and that abdomen looks so real.

Thanks, I think a little about the colors, but going in I know I want bold colors and lots of contrasts. I start out a little tentative, but once I'm "warmed up" the colors start to show up. I would love to see your stick grasshopper!

Thanks, he was fun!

And a striking young fellow he is. I like his background; grassy and sorta fiery, too.

He's very beautiful. He looks very detailed without being too fine - if you know what I mean!

Perfect name, Sarge! Suits him definitely. He looks so strong and stylish with his brightly coloured coat.

The name "Sarge" definitely fits. You may not be able to jump 100 feet but the question is, how far would you jump if Sarge landed on your head?

Love the bright colors, so nicely done. Beautiful texture and details. That's one fancy, outstanding grasshopper!

That is a very impressive jump, although I think fleas do better - something like being equivalent to a person jumping over the Eiffel Tower?

Sarge is a good name.
