Suspense

Hey, it's Illustration Friday on Saturday!  Party with me now.   This week's prompt is "suspense".  OooOooh!

I did this staircase thing.  What's upstairs?  What's outside the window?  What's downstairs?  OH, the SUSPENSE!

This was pretty fun to draw - lots of graphite left on the paper.  I used this new(ish) lead holder that one of my artsy friends turned me onto.

It's a nice little save-the-sharpener tool.  Recommend!

I was also considering a rendition of a certain photo I came across of some nice suspenders.  In the end, I don't know if it was quite PG-13 enough for my blog, ifyaknowwhatimsayin'.

I took the stairs instead.

This is great! Nice use of light and great staircase scene. The detail on the window and in the scroll work on the banister is really cool. Nice job! (Of course I'd kind of like to see the suspenders one now. Also, I have no idea what to draw for this topic!)

I like it! A nice mysterious staircase. Kinda reminds me of my aunts house which is quite old and full of history. So if your staircase is anything like hers, there's a bathroom at the top with an old claw-foot tub and some bedrooms down the hall.

This is beautiful! This reminds me of the French staircase we had back at the old house in Lawndale. I really like your shading techniques used in this drawing too. Good work ^^!

Love it! It's awesome how I can look at the window and feel like I need to squint from the bright sunshine! I'm amazed, once again!

Could be a happy morning at home or a fearful moment from a story of H.P. Lovecraft ... what is lurking outside my view?

Very nice!

There is probably a book waiting to be written about that picture.

FUnny comments (on the suspenders). The stairs are beautifully drawn, and they definitely evoke a feeling of suspense. This is no newly built house, for sure, but one with lots of history, probably some of which is not so good.

Oooohh, I feel the suspense. Is there something upstairs waiting to scare/harm me? What's behind the window. Where do the stairs lead? Definitely a winner in my book for suspenseful rendition.

Looks like a suspenseful old movie scene. I can almost hear the creaking of the steps, feel the cobwebs across my face, and see someone approaching by candlelight. Okay, now I scared myself!

Just an absolutely terrific drawing and solution to this week's IF topic! Great shadows and, always, your wonderful perspective!

Well... I was gonna leave a comment. But after reading all the others, there's nothing left to say... Ah, well, there is always next time. But it is a wonderful drawing. Well done.

Good job getting in making that expressing suspense. It is a bit creepy.

I kike your old, worn-down stairs.

Suspenders? :)
