what they wore

Run with Lumber is nigh. Barring any major upheavels, it's on for next week. And we have shirts!

Recall that the PTO prez wanted to award shirts to students who brought in $20 or more in donations, but had trouble getting a reliable and friendly artist to design them. So I ended up doing the dang things, but I have to admit it was fun. And now they're heeeeere.

I've got 4 big boxes of them in my house now.... along with the 3 big boxes of shades and 2 big boxes of otter pops. This thing better happen soon - I'm out of closet/floor space.

I'm pretty happy with how the shirts turned out and I hope we get to give them all away.

Then earlier today, I came across this site - apparently there was some big wedding somewhere:

Click here and check out image #5 of Elton John. Dang! It's t-shirt Lumber or What?!?

Who knew our little fundraiser was such a trendsetter?

bicycle

It's Illustration Friday on Saturday Sunday! Yeah, I'm a day behind. Had some company this weekend.

But alas! I did manage to get my weekly illustration fix in. This week's prompt is "bicycle". I KNOW, I know what you're thinking! (Doesn't she know that a bicycle has only two wheels???). I drew a tricycle OKAY!? On purpose!

I guess I'm just feeling a little rebellious, that's all.

that day

Hay Chihuahua! Busy times...

It's been nearly an entire week since my last confession blog entry. Well, it is Run with Lumber season, so I've been a bit caught up in all the preparations. Now, we wait for Mother Nature to comply (pleez pleez pleez pleez puh-LEEEEEZ be a nice day).

And it looks like those t-shirts might actually happen. The local promo company is just "cleaning up" the artwork for our approval and then they'll start cranking them out.

Then there's the job thing. My part-time teaching assistant job is pretty expendable, and I wouldn't be surprised if it no longer exists after this school year. The crossing guard post is pretty stable, however. It's just my strategy to collect a bunch of part-time jobs and figure they can't cut them all.

And so I have to say that I'm pretty thankful to be in the position I'm in - that of not feeling that I really HAVE to work. I just have a need to be useful.

There are a few pregnant ladies at work, already making plans for their return to work after the babies. It reminds me of the exact moment I decided to be a stay-at-home mom. After Chaco was born, I stayed working, just cut my hours back. Then came Wolfgang and I still went back to work.

One day, I was walking across the vast parking lot on my way into the building which housed the cubicle with my name on it. The sun was still low in the sky and seemed to be illuminating the many child carseats in cars in the parking lot. I remember thinking, "how sad, all those little kids at some form of daycare...." Then I realized, "Yikes! My car has two freaking carseats!"

I think I gave my notice that day.

That was so many years ago. Who knew that someday I would be planning an event wherein I run around with a big furry wolf and a buncha kids?

journey

My oh my, I've been a neglectful blogger... Good thing there's Illustration Friday on Saturday!

This week's prompt is "journey", so I drew this bus - I just think they're the cutest! I know I'm a die hard bicycle commuter (within reason), but I've always kinda wanted one of these.

Anyways, it's nice to be drawing and blogging again. Work's been keeping me busy, volunteering busier still. But it's all good. I'll Keep on Runnin' and Won't Stop Believin'. I know my comfy blog will always welcome me with Open Arms for some good Lovin', Touchin', Squeezin'...

Oh Sherry! Sorry, just couldn't help the Journey references! I'll stop now. Just remember, though, I'm Forever Yours, Faithfully...

prizes

Prizes. We have prizes.

Run With Lumber is in less than a month, and things are starting to come together. Of course, it's not over 'til it's over, but at least I've got the participation prizes. Yep, just come to school that day, and get one! Heck, they can probably get one if they don't come to school that day.

I had Wolfgang model. Okay, so can you tell what they are? Hoodies? Sunday hair?? NOPE, they're cool shades! One size fits most! (I don't know why this particular pose - I blame video games and too much violence from the entertainment industry).

I just got finished bagging up 4 hunnerd and 20. Now, they just need to stay intact somewhere in my house for another few weeks.

I've got extras.... you know you want some!

bottled

Welcome to another Illustration Friday on Saturday. This week's prompt is "bottled".

I was going to put a lit bottle rocket in the bottle, but then decided that flowers would be nicer. I used to share a Coke with my grandma in the afternoons when I stayed with her as a child. I think she'd prefer flowers to bottle rockets... but I'm not sure of it.

Sketched with a no-name pen that came free with a zipper binder.

duet

Today's episode of Illustration Friday on Saturday arrives in a pair of comfy shoes. This week's prompt is "duet", and many good things come in two's.

Gee, that rhymes.

Plus, the world needs yet another pair of Converse All Stars in graphite, doesn't it? .
