caged

Happy Illustration Friday, where this week's prompt is "caged".

I know this guy. He's a nice guy, and he drives a forklift. He prefers to earn his money by cooking, and has done so quite well in the past. He's also an aspiring artist - graphic novelist to be exact.

So he's a cook. He's an artist. But he currently earns his paychecks by driving a forklift, and he's okay with that. He calls it his "purgatory" job. It's not ideal, but he's also grateful enough to know that it could be much worse.

A bit caged maybe. Caged, but never trapped.

Heisann!
Both my sons are graphic designers, one with a regular job, one without... I know how hard it is to have sufficient income in this trade even if you are talented.
You have posted a great submission ;:D)

He sounds like a determined guy. I hope one day soon he gets to leave his purgatory and move on to that dream job.

Great depiction!

We've all had purgatory jobs. It builds character. It also teaches a lesson to some - keep working towards a goal/dream and someday it may come true. Good to see that he appreciates the opportunity he has.

Hah, I am still living in hope that I will one day get away from my purgatory job. I'm getting closer!
