just when I thought it was safe

There's one week left of school before summer break. The last PTO meeting of the year has adjourned. Run With Lumber dust has mostly settled. My thoughts are on summer break and other non-school related things. So yesterday, I get this phone call...

Riiiiiinnnnng

"Hello?"

"Yah, I got a ATV with blah blah rims and hamanah hamanah headers and garble garble garble garble... Can I enter it in the car show?"

It took me a while to figure out what was going on.

Then I remembered. OH, the car show. Our PTO does this car show. It's mostly totally organized by Jon, our lone token PTO man. Jon is a stay-at-home dad of two boys. Very nice guy. Active in PTO and always willing to help where needed (thanks, Jon, for those smashing root beer floats!)

Anyway, Jon is also into cars. When he's not chauffering the family around in his Suburban, he drives this LOUD 60-something primer-colored Camaro that looks like it just came off the set of Road Warrior.

So he organizes and markets the car show. It's fun. We give out trophies and sell food and stuff. It brings in a few hundred dollars, depending on the weather. He's begun getting ready for the show for next September.

His name and phone number are on the flyer as a contact. Another PTO's name and number are on there as a contact. Last week, he asked if he could include my name and number on the flyer since I'm the treasurer, if people have questions about money and such. "Yeah, sure Jon".

And now the phone is ringing? You mean people actually read those flyers??

if you're a man in the pto,you have to man it up. Jon is doing men types everywhere proud. Although, I am not a car guy and do not get it, but nevermind that.

Also, Jon is doing man types proud by organizing an event and then giving out the contact number of a trusted newly promoted co-organizer. Way to go Jon.

You're going to have to get car savvy now, if people are going to be calling you.

They actually read that stuff. Go figure. I didn't think anyone read anything anymore.
